Is it impossible to gain muscle and losing weight and gain muscle at the same time?
When I was living with my family, I didn’t do workout at all, ate snacks packed with carbs, sugars and fat. Now I live in a dorm, opt for healthier veggie-packed meals, hit the gym and take a dance class (which is much more intense than it sounds!)
And I was a few pounds lighter when I was living with my family. WHAT.
My goal is not so far away, actually it’s just losing 10 pounds from my original weight while getting a leaner body. It’s almost nothing, compared to goals of other people on Fat secret.
Now I can see my muscle becoming slightly more visible than before. But I’m putting on some weight, which makes me so worried if I’m doing something wrong. (I know that muscles are heavier than fat tho…)

first and foremost, regardless of your weight or appearance, you are building habits and skills that will serve you and preserve you for the rest of your life, so kudos to that! Second, considering your goals, i would pay more attention to your muscles, which you can see are strengthening, and how your clothes fit. Jmho! Great job!

Yes it is possible to gain muscle and lose weight but you do have to calibrate your nutrition to actually do that. It looks like you are eating about the same number of calories as you burn though, so I think the exercise estimate is a little high, and the calorie intake is a little low, and the balance means you are gaining weight.

Muscles weigh quite a bit more than fat. Measure instead of weigh so much.

You could be building more muscle faster than you are losing fat which would account for the increased weight. You could be retaining water, especially if you are not drinking enough of it. The scale is unreliable as it cannot tell the difference between a pound of fat and a pound of anything else. Bodybuilding.com has several articles about building muscle while losing fat. I was doing a search there the other day.

Well, losing fat while gaining muscle is possible-all depending on ur body fat %. I would say lose the 10 pounds, then bulk

You have to eat whole protein to build muscle. Also, you more of a calorie deficit you are running will make it harder. A slight deficit with balanced macros that are maybe a little higher on protein will fuel your body for muscle adaptation (growth) while enabling you to reduce fat. I'm measurably getting more muscular while dropping pounds.
