I had a friend once who said that your tastebuds lose the taste of things after 3 bites, so have 3 bites of something, chewing carefully in between and then stop. Not sure if that is true or not, but it helps me sometimes to have part of a donut instead of a whole one. The culture here in my office is that it is ok to cut a piece off a donut and not take a whole one which also helps. Good luck - maybe you could start a trend!

Sorry 😐 this is my weakness too! I don’t walk into the faculty lounge anymore because I have no control. If I do get tempted I just chew and spit it in the trash! Less calories!

Thank them, instead! They are helping you build resilience and self control.

This is funny and terrible - but I'm having the same struggle at this moment! A coworker brought in some amazing donuts, and I planned to resist, but after a couple hours, I gave in and I already ate half of it. Reading your post motivated me to stop eating and put it in the trash though, where it belongs. Lol. Good luck!

For fcuk's sake, with 85# to go you might consider running the sh^t right down the disposal where it belongs and devoting your energy to getting your diet sorted.

It's the same in every office. In fact, most people in offices are careful or struggle with weight issue. I don't know how this gesture is any bit smart, or helpful. No one ever brings in a basket of fruits!. Just the cheap donuts which makes everyone is detrimental to our health. Should put a sign on the bulletin board reading 'leave the junk food home, bring in something healthy to share'

Also had a coworker who used to do the chew-and-spit-it-out routine. Gross, but he lived to be 90.

It really doesn't matter what another person brings in whether it be healthy or not. The truth is, we are all in control of our own destiny. You either ignore the box of donuts or you indulge, either way there are consequences. In addition, denying yourself at every turn is not healthy either. Make generally good choices food-wise, so on the occasions that this scenario arises, you can also share in the goodies without always being that person who is on a diet!

Go ahead and eat it. Weight loss is easy, and takes little effort. Sorry got that backwards. Consider how much effort it takes to lose 10 lbs, and how easy it is to regain, I don't like to toss my effort out the window. Get strong, be strong, and stay strong.

You know, since I have been on Keto for over a month now, I can really resist this stuff rather well. My patients bring sweets, candy, etc all the time. I just give it away to the other people in the building... and I am proud to say that I have not really been tempted. I just remind myself that the scale can only go one way if I eat that!!! And that seems to do the trick.

A small bite won’t hurt, but that’s it. When patient’s families bring sweets to work, I ask for a small chunk of cookie from someone or if it’s a donut, just 1/4 if it just so u don’t feel I’m depriving myself. And then, I skedaddle away from the box of goodies🏃🏻‍♀️

I agree with take a couple of bites (or cut off a small piece) and enjoy 75 calories. Period. I also agree with how hard it is to lose weight. It has taken me almost a month to lose 8 pounds and I am diligent! So putting a doughnut into my mouth right now would be like poison to me since it would counteract all my work. We are all at different places, though, so if a doughnut is in your RDI, then goodie for you! I'll just drink my V8, haha...

I dont look at the food or sweet I love, I look at my sugar level from last blood work I am at risk to be diabetic. So that is good enough to scare the sweet, away. Plus my data here that seems to control my actions towards sugar and sweet also in my cheat day I dint go crazy may be one soda if ever or 2 slice of pizza 🍕 once in month but not every day.

I have a sugar gremlin and not touching the stuff actually is easier than trying to have a little...The way I resist successfully is to think of how that item will make me feel afterwards...always have to remind myself. Sugar does really make me feel crappy so I just remind myself of that.

I always remember this when a situation like arises, "you don't need to eat it, because you already know how it tastes". I don't always follow it, but at times this helps me to say, "no thank you ".
