I know a lot of people are on the keto diet and have great results. Unfortunately for I can't do keto. I recently found out that I have a bum gallbladder, thanks to a trip to urgent care last Friday for extreme pain. I've got a fairly high pain tolerance and a severe aversion to doctors so I know it was bad. No I have to have very little fat in my diet. I'm trying to stay under 10g a day which can be challenging. I noticed that if I have more than that my body becomes disgruntled with me. And I hurt more. :(

I know leafy greens are good for you, but they can affect the gallbladder sometimes.

Is anyone else on a super low fat diet? If so, what do you eat? I found seafood is pretty low in fat, and there's a good amount of fat free dairy. Yay! But I'd like other recommendations.

Google "Gall Bladder Diet." You will get a variety of foods low in fat.

@rosio19 and the good thing about calories is that a lot of them come from fat. So by not being able to eat fat I don't take in a whole lot of calories.

@NP2011 Not yet. Just a giant gallstone that super inflamed my Gallbladder and did a touch of tearing as it went through my bile duct. The problem is that they can't find the stone and they're worried it ended up in the pancreas. That's why I have to keep an eye on the pain levels and head straight to the ER is it gets bad like it was Friday.

Cold water fish, shrimp etc are high in fat/cholesterol. You will have to look up the different kinds of fish that you like and see where they fall.

Look at Atkins! And Keto is just the name of another diet... once you know what your eating in carbs fat and protein which you log here you can still lose weight. I’m sure of it.

Gallbladder pain isn't for sissies. My stone ended up blocking my bile duct and sent everything into my liver and pancreas. Very very very bad. Three procedures later and I was good as new! I've never had any problem eating fat, though. Hmmmm. The nurse did ask what my last meal was before all the pain set in and I told her, "Meatballs". She said, "I'll bet you never eat them again; most people don't" (referring to her patients and their last meals). It took me years to eat them again, but I'm not a quitter!

Oh my gosh, I know that pain, its excruciating. I am so sorry you are going through that!! I had two large stones, one shattered and was sharp! then I had my gallbladder removed (about 6 years ago). In the beginning I ate very low fat, because fat when right through me! After a while your body adjusts, it might take a while. Eventually you probably could do keto again. I know a few of my friends doing keto are sans gallbladder! Good luck and hope it all gets worked out!

Been there, done that. Ended up inpatient for a week and having gallbladder out, ERCP for the missing stones, another one 6 weeks later to remove a filter. Yes, it can cause acute liver failure-very painful but fortunately, reversible. I now do keto, have no issues. Years ago (my gosh, nutrition concepts have changed!) I did heavy bodybuilding and at that point super low fat was the thing. Baked chicken without skin, 90% lean hamburger sauted in wine or water, Manahatten style fish chowder. Fill up on: baked potato without added fats, boiled rice. Eggs are always good; if you really want to cut fat, eat just the whites. (there's always non fat angel food cake=!)

I sincerely hope they find that pesky culprit and that you dont have further complications.

I hope you are following up on that, if it is stones they may be able to use a lazer to break them up or give medication. depends on what kind they are. if you ignore getting further treatment you may end up having to have it removed. fingers crossed you have good medical advise.

A friend of mine has bad gallbladder issues and is super limited in his fat. I had mine out and have no troubles at all :) If I eat too much fat or wheat I may get diarrhea.

oatmeal is low in fat, not the instant but the old fashioned. I have a diet recipe somewhere that added dried fruit and nuts. it was really good.
