Happy Easter! I love being home for holidays. I wake up to the perfect Easter basket. A little bit of dark chocolate, lots of hard boiled eggs, and a grapefruit. My mom sure did a good job, including my favorite stuff that isn't so bad for the old diet. I lived in NYC for years and could never afford to come home for any holidays, so now I really appreciate it. Last fall I decided to temporarily move back in with my parents in WI to take some time to work and save up some money and maybe find some direction. I loved what I was doing in NY, but sooner or later I would have had to make a dramatic change in lifestyle to be able to afford to stay there. I miss it, although it is nice to spend quality time with my family and also nice to not stress out about bills and the like. Both locations have their own unique diet and exercise challenges. In NY I worked as a dog walker and freelance jewelry designer so I got tons of exercise in my daily life, although it wasn't very intense and I wasn't doing much, if any, strength training. I had access to lots of healthy food, but also went out all the find (to dinner and for drinks.) Over the time I lived there I slowly lost weight, but too much drinking fought as hard as it could to keep me fat. After I left I did a bunch of traveling and GAINED! Now that I'm in WI I haven't been drinking at all and my diet has been fairly good (although I sometimes eat out of boredom), but I really have to work to fit exercise into my schedule. I have now managed to make a habit out of going to the gym or doing outdoor activities. It helps that my parents are really healthy. Everyone in my family struggles to maintain a healthy body (we have serious fat genes on both sides) and its nice to be with people all working for the same thing. Since I've been home I haven't been drinking at all. In NY most of my friends were naturally thin and beautiful and talented. I hated always being the fattest one at a party, even if I was the only one who noticed. I WI I am definitely not the thinnest, but also far from the fattest, which is much better for my self-esteem. Now I just have to work on not eating my entire Easter basket in one sitting.

That sounds like an amazing Easter basket. In fact, I have to wonder if Easter is the best holiday for dieting -- dark chocolate and hard boiled eggs are part of the tradition, all you have to do is avoid Peeps.

I am sure you are beautiful and talented as well. I know how you feel though, my friends are ALL naturally thin.
