I want to change my diet to more of a clean eating style vs low carb which is followed by people who exercise often and are intent on building muscle and loosing body fat. This is an example of the dietEat Clean Diet

This eating style includes more carbs than most of the phases in the Atkins diet in the form of complex, startches (sweet potatos) and simple carbs (fruit). I still want to stay on the lower end of the carb scale very carefully monitoring my carb portions and my reactions to them. I have not had any sugar cravings in a long while and I don't want that to change. I know that I need the complex carbs to fuel my workouts. I have been eating some fruits that are lower on the GI index which has not caused any cravings for me so far.

I will continue to read and reseach to see if I can stay in the Atkins diet group while modifying my eating style somewhat to account for my activity level. I like Atkins because it reminds me to be mindful of my carbs and not to let them get out of control ever again.

If you're interested in a lo-carb workout based diet check out CKD (Cyclic Ketogenic Diet) by Lyle McDonald. It's been specifically researched and designed with weightlifting in mind. He used to be a regular on the newsgroup misc.fitness.weights. The info he provides in on the technical side so be prepared for some long reads but it's got a lot of good information.

That sounds like it would be a good choice for you. You know, when you workout more, as you do, it is recommended that you increase your carb intake, like those found in later stages of Atkins. I think you have done a wonderful job so far and this might help you. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with you being on the site if you were following your own plan. There are lots of people here that have changed theirs. I might need you around in a bit - gonna start exercising soon (if Dr finally gives me the go-ahead). Take care.

That sounds pefect!! I'm a bodybuilder, I need to at like one...**runs to google** Perhaps I can do this diet and still stay here with my Atkins friends!! :-)

By all means. If you are a body builder, then you should be eating way more carbs than what you are getting where you are. You can incorporate Atkins lifestyle into your own plan that will encourage the increased muscle mass.

I would be pleased to encourage you KMartin! I will be your cheerleader!! The best thing I have done in 2010 was to get my butt back into gear and start to workout regularly again. I am so proud :-)

I was actually enjoying exercising finally but was in a car accident a few months ago and have been told to stop anything but walking til they get it all figured out. I am much better but having to get steroid injections for now. Hopefully Tuesday will be my last one unless the pain continues. Well thats a story for another time. I will be taking you up on your offer though. Need to find ways to rid myself of all this dreaded flab.

You are right I have slap run out of gas...I just started feeling it this week, I have hit a wall where my strength is decreasing. I'm going to research the CKD (Cyclic Ketogenic Diet) by Lyle McDonald. I still feel that lower carb is the way. It is a miracle that I don't crave sweets anymore!! I was a sugaraholic before I found Atkins! Now its time to adjust my carbs a little to feed my muscles, not my hips!! lol
