This may be too much information for some but I have to ask some of you fellow keto followers if you are having this same experience... So I often feel like I need to go to the bathroom, (#2) but when I go its barely anything.... Then 30 minutes later I get the same sensation but AINT NOBODY got time for THAT!! Anyone know if this is normal? I had a good bit of stomach issues on and off since I have had my gallbladder removed. I have lost about 10-12 lbs in the last couple weeks so I am super stoked and have no intentions of stopping the keto diet. I'm not necessarily concerned w/ the stomach issues, just a little aggravated!

I do not experience that and I have not read about that being a common experience. Could you be a bit gassy?

Ask your doctor.

I used to be all the time liv... it’s not that... not sure what the issue is but maybe it has to do with me not having a gallbladder... IDK

How much fiber are you getting?

Taking magnesium has done wonders for my regularity. Maybe that could help?

Sounds like the same experience my wife had in the weeks following her gallbladder removal. She was not trying any new diet or anything, but the symptoms sound the same. Suggest you consult your doctor but I would be willing to bet..... The keto diet also prescribes high fat which would also loosen stools. Direct relation between gallbladder removal and fat in your foods

My tummy just hurts every time I eat anything pretty much. Idk it could be lack of gallbladder. I have trouble even when not on Keto it just kinda seems like it’s worse I guess!

By the way my gallbladder has been out over 5 years now... almost 6 years and I still have trouble associated with not having it.

The gall bladder's function is to release stored bile to digest fat in the small intestine. Amazingly, the biliary system (the tubes connecting the pancreas, liver, and gall bladder to the small intestine) adapts to the missing gall bladder, assuming its function! It takes up to six months. Digestive problems post-op may be due to something other than the surgically-absent gall bladder.

*Any* fat made me violently ill (N&V) for about 6 mos. after my laparoscopic cholecystectomy in May 1993. (At first, I thought, "Good! I'll finally get skinny!" but I was soon back to my normal eating patterns.) Needless to say, six months of "no fat" did NOT make me skinny!

Clarification: GI problems *more than six months after G.B. removal* may be due to something other than the absent G.B. Mrs Rancor, after 5-6 *years*, symptoms when eating anything are unlikely to be due to your missing gall bladder. I consulted a gastrointestinal specialist for alternating constipation/diarrhea. After testing, he rx'd *daily* Miralax (I use a generic brand.). N.B.: Miralax is *not* a magnesium-based laxative, which causes muscle spasm to expel stool. Miralax and similar products draw fluid into the large intestine to improve function. Daily magnesium-based laxative use creates dependence and is tantamount to abuse.
