Grr. Pain. I knew something wasn't right during that mile walk yesterday...there was a pulling in my low back, felt almost as if something needed to pop. I should have stopped when that first appeared, instead I "pushed through it". In hindsight, maybe not such a good idea. It doesn't hurt when I'm sitting, but when I walk my low back hurts when my right foot hits the ground. That's going to throw my newly devised exercise routine off. I'm going to take it easy today, stay off my feet as much as possible, and take some Motrin. I have a field trip to attend tomorrow that is going to require a lot of walking, so can't stay down for long. On the upside...tried a new recipe today that I found on a sbd site...phase 1 friendly waffles, using chickpeas and buttermilk as the main ingredients. Excellent! I'm in heaven. They taste great...slight nutty flavor, but it was good. Only real difference between these and regular waffles is that these are a little more fragile removing from the waffle iron.

I used to belong to the SB website...in Apr 2004 Dr. Agatson had a few changes, buttermilk (FF or 1%) in phase 1 was allowed as of then. I'm not a member of that site any longer (costs too much), but unless it's changed since then, it's allowed.

I first did this diet several years ago, so my "book" is still from the days when milk wasn't allowed. I have the SBD Good Fats/Good Carbs book though, published in 2004, and it does list 1% or FF buttermilk as a phase 1 food to enjoy. So, it's a good phase 1 choice.

the link i posted above is free and was the most up to date until this new book came out this month...i printed out the stuff from the link above because that site keeps crashing...stays down for long periods of time...it is up today...

The list on that link (I'm looking at the food list there for phase 1) isn't up to date at all...it still says no milk alowed in phase 1. There were big changes in 2004 that aren't included there. I wouldn't use that list if I were you.

Seriously, buttermilk is allowed for phase 1. lol From that same site you listed, in the forum where there is actually someone keeping up with the changes: "MILK/DAIRY (2 cups allowed daily, including yogurt) Low-fat milk (fat-free and 1%) Fat-free 1/2 & 1/2 (less than 2 tablespoons) Low-fat plain, vanilla, or sucralose-containing soy milk (4 grams of fat or less per 8 ounce serving). Be sure the product does not contain high fructose corn syrup 1% or fat-free buttermilk Fat-free plain yogurt "
