I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes yesterday. Talk about a wake up call. I am now the stereotypical fat person 😞 More than anything, I am so mad at myself!! What kind of person allows themselves to get to this point??!!

It happens to many. You can correct it and likely cure it with dieting and some patience. We are here for support

Thank you :) I guess it was bound to happen, but yet I was still surprised when I heard it. Looks like it’s time to pull up my big girl pants and start taking this seriously 🙂

Did you get a dieting plan or advice to get started?

It has happened to many of us including myself. Don't be hard on yourself but do get busy...

You've made the first step by being here!! Try to be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend or child <3

I just joined here today. I am here because I have gained 30 lbs since being put on Oxygen Therapy 2 years ago. That was my wake up call too. The point is, we are here . . . to do something. I am committed to move more and eat less!!! I already feel better just after two weeks of walking circles in my home and eating less. We can do this!!!! Good luck to you!

CarisaLee...I am that kind of person...that's why I ended up here, to change the future path of my health for my family, friends and for myself. Good luck going forward, you will directly gain what you put into it!!

LOTS of wonderful people allow themselves to get that way, @CarisaLee You'll meet a lot of them here! LOTS of them have also reversed Type 2 diabetes and either reduced or gotten off meds completely! Don't "get used to" having diabetes! Jump in here with both feet and start making the changes that have the power to change EVERYTHING about your body, your mind, and your life! If you're looking for a challenge to get you started off on the right track, consider the "Daily Accountability 2019-#16" challenge which starts on Monday. It will help you to do things like recording everything you eat, drinking 48-oz of Water a day, increasing your Fiber intake, and "increasing" your physical activity level (no matter where it is right now). We'd love to have you join us next week! Whether you do or don't, don't beat yourself up about where you are! As @Brittineheath90 said, "take this energy and use it to make things happen" - POSITIVE things! Self deprecation will only make you feel WORSE about yourself and perpetuate the behaviors that got you where you don't want to be.

Thankfully it is a curable condition. Some get rid of diabetes in a matter of weeks. We live in a time where not all doctors know that you can put diabetes into remission. Diabetes is a lucrative business, so it can be helpful to do some research, in order to avoid those that want your money. Suggest names like Ken Berry, and Richard Bernstein, both can be found on YouTube. Wishing you speedy remission.

Don't be so hard on yourself. If your here, that means you want to do something about it. I was borderline diabetic at the beginning of the year and so I decided to do a 28 day keto challenge, that was January 30, 2019. as of today I am still on keto and as of this week I lost 30lbs. I see my doctor this coming Tuesday to see how my numbers are. Best of luck to you. Where there's a will, there's a way. YOU GOT THIS!!!

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement! I know I am hard on myself-it’s just another one of my habits I have to kick 😉 I am very determined to turn this around!

@debbie cousins-how do I get involved with that challenge? This is all new to me and I’m not sure how to do much of anything.

@CarisaLee, You can do this! In August I was 292 and diagnosed diabetic with an A1c of 7.5. As of today I have lost 86 pounds and my A1c was 5.1. I'm in my mid fifties, with no gallbladder and post hysterectomy. It should have been impossible. Its not!

@floridagal2000-congratulations on your weight loss-that’s amazing! I also have had my gall bladder out and a hysterectomy. Does that make losing weight more difficult?

Hey Carisalee!! Stop beating yourself up about the weight, Take yourself in hand and try intermittent fasting, It works for many people, eat breakfast really late and dinner very very early. After dinner don't eat anything till breakfast time the next day, stay busy and cheerful, plan your meals, so you eat nutririous food. Good luck!

STOP! The kind of person you are has nothing to do with your weight. I don’t even know you and I think you are terrific because you’re sharing your frustration and that’s real and human.Sending you a lotta love.
