I have cut my carbs quite a bit. Finally losing weight slowly and hopefully permanently. Blood sugar taking a while to stabilize, but coming down a little. More I hope.

As a norm without other medical conditions bs should drop and stabilize. Also total cholesterols drop, bad drops, good HDL increases with regular exercise.

Darla do you see a Dietitian? I had my blood sugars under control until they took me off metformin and put me on glipizide. My a1c soared up to 8.0 from 5.9. I asked my primary care physician about diabetes classes because I needed to get me back under control. It was the best thing I've done in years. I'm not going to lie it's a pain in the backside but I understand why. You will have to write every morsel down that passes the lips whether liquid or solid. My Dietitian put me on a 1200 calorie diet and 40 carbs per meal. I've lost 15 lbs in the last 6 weeks. Having to write it all down makes you accountable and realize just how much we've been eating over and above a normal sized portion. Label reading is a must. But it's not bad... it's not a diet it's a lifestyle and you will go through and find foods you like that don't run havoc on your blood sugars. And 1200 calories is actually a lot of food. I've cut out my grazing all day and try not to eat past 6:00 pm at the latest unless it's a small snack a couple of hours before bed. You sound like you also may be carb sensitive. Some carbs even though are low on the glycemic index and glycemic load spike my blood sugars. I also learned under certain circumstances your liver can leak sugar to feed your muscles thus your blood sugars rise without even eating anything. Plus you will find tons of supporters here in Fat Secret. It's a wonderful place to be.

Yes. I count every bite and every sip. Second time I have gone thru this. I have now gotten it into my thick skull... It is forever! Lost 50 first time. Gained it all back in 3 years. Not doing that again! One benefit... My hubby eats what I eat. He's turned into a stud muffin! Lol

Type 2 diabetes is reversible you don't have to be diabetic. Look up the diabeties code. Dr Jason Fung is a guru on diabeties and a kidney specialist in Toronto. All I am saying is to educate yourself. He has helped thousands (not exaggerating) to reverse diabetes. Good luck:-)

I agree with birdeegirl. The dietitian is giving current ADA guides, but 40g carb per meal, 3x per day, *will* keep your insulin secretion and resistance high, eventually worsening T2 diabetes and necessitating insulin injections. Fung also has great videos on YouTube to get you started on low-carb/high-fat/moderate protein (recognized by the ADA for T2 as of 12/2018) & intermittent fasting. Same topics, search YouTube for Ken D. Berry, M.D. T2 IS REVESIBLE!
