Yesterday was my first day of my couch to 5K iphone app challenge. I am skeptical but want to give it a solid try. when i first began to jog, my steps were so small that my boyfriend (who is doing it with me for support) thought i was barely running. But I could definitely tell the difference in the barely-jog and the walk. At some point my knee hurt, and then at another point my hip felt all discombobulated, and then the other knee hurt. But I powered through and by the end everything felt normal. I'll have to remember that experience when i start trying to crap out when it gets harder. I'm a little frustrated honestly because I've really made a huge difference in my activity level and the food I eat (both quality and proportion) and I have seen very little evidence of that progress on my waistline for the past two weeks. I'm even drinking 75 oz of water a day, which like a 200% improvement from my pre-challenge water consumption. What gives?

Either Shape or Fitness had a good formula for figuring out caloric needs in an issue I recently read. Take your goal weight (150) and multiply by 10, so you should eat 1500 calories a day. Then on days that you exercise, add back half of the calories you burn by exercising. So if you were to burn 300 calories working out one day you would need to eat a total of 1650 calories that day. Maybe that will help?

that's really helpful. I will keep that in mind, maybe I'll see some progress. I'm trying couch to 5K now. did I tell you that? I just finished day 3. I hope I can keep it up. are you still going to the same gym? how is it going for you?
