Journal de kpuck33, 11 oct. 19

Went to the gym tonight. All of a sudden I became incredibly on edge. Tried to wait it out, but couldn’t get out of the truck and just drove myself home. Do y’all have any tips/tricks for getting over being anxious about the gym?

I have accetto a trainer at my gym. The first couple of lessons are free then you have to pay but that helped me. Then I talked.my friend into joining and we go together.

I just go home and use kettlebells. I mostly work out to reduce stress so if I'm not feeling it, I don't push it.

The way I have my calorie budget setup, gym = weight loss for me, basically. I weigh myself almost every morning, and the thought of it being lower by just an ounce the next day really motivates me. This constant positive feedback is key. After a while, going to the gym 5 days a week becomes the new "normal".

Maybe you prefer privacy? Is there a time with less people? I just remember that people aren't sitting around at a gym people watching...they have their own agenda. Good luck!

I can't tell much from your profile, and I am probably guilty of giving unsolicited advice, but your target weight (100) would produce a very low BMI for most people. At that weight, even a young, petite female would be quite underweight. Example. A 138 lb., 5'6" 25 y/o female would be a pretty picture perfect 22 BMI. The same person at 100 lbs would be a 16, quite underweight. https://www.smartbmicalculator.com/

The gym is probably one place that when you first start going you have anxiety but the more you go the more comfortable you are there. I generally stick to myself and just do what my trainer has given me. I meet my trainer twice a month and the end of each month we measure progress. No matter what your doing if you want to see changes you have to push yourself through those doors and get it done. I don’t want to come off rude by saying that. Oh and my wife and I go together quite often so having a support system in place helps
