My sister had the same thing when her husband died, She kept expecting to see him when she went into the kitchen or the living room. It takes a long time to get to the stage of acceptance. If you find it brining you down too much, you might want to check out some grief counseling - a lot of times there are local support groups. You don't have to be strong all the time.
