Well, I went to KC over the weekend and learned some huge lessons. First of all--and most important--bring some of your own food. We only ate one place (Friday night) that was acceptable for my diet. I ate so much junk just because there was nothing else to eat that I could eat. Friday we took the train and ate on the train. I should have brought my own lunch. I ended up eating a turkey and cheese sandwich on the train that tasted like pure salt. Dinner time was at a bbq restaurant. Saturday morning was the hotel buffet. Well the scrambled eggs were gross and the rest of the protein was pure grease. The fresh fruit was good, but I ate very little protein. I ended up eating a little yogurt, but it had sugar in it and made me sick for a short time. We were going to buy lunch to go and eat that on the train, but couldn't find a lunch place close by, so we raided a vending machine--full of salt again!! Well, even though I walked my living butt off this weekend, I gained 4 pounds of pure water because of all the salt I ate. I'm still trying to get rid of it. It was a good experience and I learned to bring my own food. Another lesson I learned was to bring 2 pair of comfortable shoes because my poor aching feet needed a shoe change and I didn't have anything appropriate to change into. The final lesson learned was that rolling suitcases are gifts from God!! Overall, we had fun this weekend and I got a lot of exercise which I'm very thankful for. I needed to get my butt moving more. I would definitely do it again. The train ride was really nice and relaxing.
