Hi Ayesha, congrats on your great progress towards your goal this far. Although I have been calorie counting on FS for around 2 months, I have only lost a measly 2kg and am feeling daunted. What diet or eating style/plan are you following? I couldn't help but notice your's are among the rare meals including carbs so I'm presuming ( rather hopeful) that's it's not Keto. I don't have anything against Keto, but I just rather not follow it. Please share the secret of your success.

@TheBeezkneez How many calories are you currently eating on average per week? I don't like cutting any food types out so I eat whatever I want as long as I'm in a calorie deficit. Just keep in mind that if you eat the right foods, you'll be full all day long whereas eating a lot of processed foods will obviously not fill you up (but you still need to spoil yourself every now and then :P)

It's all about calories in and calories out. You don't need to do something like Keto to lose weight.. some people prefer it as it seems to help them lose weight faster but all it does is it makes you lose water weight initially as carbs and sodium holds back water in your body. Dropping the carbs just drops that water weight

@thebeezkneez. 2kg loss is not measely. think about it as a steady 250g loss per week. That's the equivalent of a block of butter every two weeks. I agree with Niiq12. What I've learnt is that calorie deficit is key. it does also help to know how your own body responds to different food types. for example. I don't follow keto, but I bloat massively from wheat based foods, so I've eliminated breads, pastas etc mostly from my diet, just because of that (one sandwich today = up by 1.5kg tomorrow literally). I also work out up to 5 times a week now, so I naturally require/crave a lot more protein than I used to when I only worked out 2-3 times a week. I don't count macros. i haven't wrapped my head around that level of detail. It doesn't happen over night. learn to love the process of learning and you'll look back in a couple months and be super surprised with the changes. take progress pics, take body measurements. on the days that you want to throw the scale out of the window, these things will paint a much brighter picture. 🥗

Thanks Shereen, I have been reading your posts as well and you sound knowledgable so I'm glad you also got in on my act. Sorry I'm still navigating how to post etc. Thanks for advice and encouragement.

niiq12 Thank you. Your input is both useful and encouraging. I started on FS aiming to eat 1600 and ate around 1800. After finding out my BMR, I adjusted down to eat 1200. I have been coming in at 1400 most days but have added a 30 minute weekday walk, while I was totally sedentary before. I once did an 'almost Keto' before I knew what Keto entailed and dropped around 12kgs Superquick! But it wasn't for me even though I didn't eat much animal fat, still meat is not my cup of tea. I prefer carbs and eating 'volume' so I will take your advice and eat filling plant foods and just hope this uneventfulness passes. By the way, checked you out and Very impressive! Well done! I am sure I can learn a thing or two from you. Thanks again.

Thanks :) But like everyone is saying, 2kg is not bad at all. I've lost about 8kgs in the last 5-6 months. It might seem slow but I still enjoy all food types and I try to not restrict too much except for calories in. The journey is quite long but I've done diets where I lose 10kg in 10 weeks before and then I just gain everything back. If you go slow and steady, it's easier to keep the weight off.
