How does everyone cut down on cheese and milk? Especially milk, because after I come home from work I am never hungry, but I often find myself drinking 3-4 pints of milk 😵😭. Help or advice anyone? Thanks in advance :-)

I love cheese but have pretty much cut it out to avoid temptation. Is there anything you can substitute the milk for? Or measure out a specific amount for the day and try and stick with it?

Im not sure, I’ve tried water or juice or squash but nothing is the same. I try to limit myself, I guess I just need to be harsher (/stricter?)

is you dont already you could move to skimmed milk to help reduce the fat count. one thing i will say be careful cutting out milk. I stopped drinking it (for non dietry reasons) and now it makes me really sick, which is really sad because a good hot chocolate is not no longer possible 😭

I only buy the Eatlean low fat cheese. I've stopped buying milk completely. If I want a coffee I use a powdered coffee whitener. If it's not there, I can't have it. It may not be possible for you to not have milk or cheese in the house but what about not having that much milk at your disposal.

Okay thanks for that advice Belial87 - I’ll bear that in mind

Thanks SJ. I live with 3 others so we always have to have milk, and I know if I use it I can just nip to the shops 😂. I guess I should make myself “ration” as it were

Hi Ellie, you could start by gradually lowering the amount every day. So if you drink 4pints Monday, on Tuesday and Weds drink 3.5pints, Thurs and Fri 3pints and keep going until you are just drinking a glass when you get in. Better to do it slowly so it becomes a habit rather than cold turkey and risk slipping back to loads of milk. That would be my advice. Can't help with cheese! I love the stuff but can now control having just 30g a day if I want it, took a long time though!

I used to be a massive milk drinker... I switched to oat milk for my tea and coffee and for the kids cereal. Now that we don't have milk in the house and I don't actually like drinking the oat milk I don't do it anymore. It's kind of like out of sight out if mind. Maybe try an buy smaller bottle of milk for the others in the house and stick to oat or almond for tea and coffee.

Maybe a health drink instead but I’m no judge because I don’t eat cheese anymore doesn’t fit in my diet and only have 190ml of milk per day on porridge and tea but I would say some form of health drink
