Holiday Survival Challenge - Week 3 Continued...

Today was a really bad day for the diet. No particular event going on. I was just cold all day. I think I eat more when I'm cold - its that part in my brain that is still there from 3 million years ago or so and it tells me to eat a lot to keep my body warm and build up the fat so I don't die during the winter!!!

I also think I plan ahead well for those "events" - and this everyday crap just snuck up on me. It all started when my sister got McDonald's for me for lunch and I said I wanted fries (I'm not a huge french fry fan - even when I'm not watching what I eat, I don't usually get them). I ate about 1/2 of my burger and about 1/2 of my fries (which is about double what I usually eat when I get french fries those two or three times a year!). Then it was all downhill after that. Before the curtain falls tonight I will have also eaten a bowl of jambalaya (not that great) 1/2 slice of pizza (even less great), a part of a KFC bowl (didn't finish it because I didn't like it), a slice of wheat bread with butter and peanut butter (just okay) and about 10 oreos (pretty good but tasted kind of chemically). And I am STARVING right now. WOW - DO THOSE CRAVINGS TAKE OVER!!! I could stay up all night and just graze.

However - nothing really seems to be satisfying my cravings. I feel like I'm craving something REALLY BAD and really specific. But there isn't anything I can think of that I can say, "That's it!! That's what I want!"

And having said all that, I think I'm going to make a salad. That actually sounds kind of good right now.

I'm scared to weigh in tomorrow. I may be putting that off until Friday!!! :)

Okay so I am not the only one who did not have a good diet day, that makes me feel better. I had jury duty today in the city and all there was to eat was fried chicken places luckily I found a pizza place but I had 3 pieces of pizza and a Stromboli stuffed with Italian sausage, peppers, and onions. Then while I was waiting, I had Sweetened Ice Tea and a snack. When I got home I figured in for a penny, in for a pound and had more anti-carb food but in my defense milk is extremely good for you so I'm glad I had that. So to make my point, I know exactly what you mean in this journal!

I noticed all the ( ) comments after the foods... that means you have developed a taste for the "good" foods and can pick out the "bad" ones on your palate better... It may have been a bad diet day but good for you on recognizing that things taste funny! I wish I could do that on more things, but some things... well, they'll always taste good (like homemade cookies, we are inidated with those at work right now from patients!).

Pagey! that thing you're craving...does it taste salty? no no! it's a little sweet/salty, huh? hmmm...well, the perfect solution is to eat a pickle and then drink hot chocolate (sugar free of course!) Let me know if this works! I'm working on a new brew of medicinal prescriptions for my DR. QUACK book i'm interested in publishing! love ya! hee hee
