My 5:2 fast day was Thurs 8:00 pm to Friday 8:00 pm. As with my previous fast day experiences, the fasting part went great. I had a challenge getting my meal in on time before the fast started and then I didn't end the fast the way I intended. I wanted to eat some steamed veggies and some fish Friday evening. However, my neighbor invited us out to pizza which was very nice of him, but the LAST thing I wanted to eat was pizza! I felt like it would just un-do the benefits of my fast.
He took us to a local pizza place, we had cheese sticks, I ordered a Greek salad. It was the worst salad I have had in YEARs. I mean, how do you mess up a Greek salad? It was gritty, I asked for dressing on the side, they drowned it in dressing. The pizza was delicious though, I ended up having half a slice. I am so grateful for the kindness of my neighbor, however I feel like I have diet gremlins working against me. LOL
This week I will try my best to start my fast on Wednesday night into Thursday evening. Planning and focus. I have some good food stocked in the fridge, got some Red Snapper and Tilapia, and fresh produce. Egg whites are (and spinach) the best diet foods in the world IMHO. I'm ready this week!!

Sometimes working a diet can be very challenging around well meaning family and friends. Sometimes I get tired of salads regardless of how good they are. I love the fish. It's a good source protein. I'm loving the egg whites too. I have been trying to slip in a day of fasting but have been successful yet...

I'm just getting started with the fasting. It has been a little bumpy starting out, but I can see myself sticking with this over the long haul as a way to reduce my overall caloric intake. I feel it's going to really help me as I get older.
