Risotto de Bacalhau
I needed to salvage the cod stew fail from the other day. Replaced bread by rice. This time… it was divine. Viva bacalhau! 🇧🇷🇵🇹

Hahaha , risotto à la Fritz ! Dishes don’t need a name to have great taste. I am glad you are enjoying the kitchen a bit more. Maria, your surname doesn’t sound very Brazilian but your parents must have roots from other parts of the world which is fine. 🤣

There are many, many Japanese-Brazilians there. Eduardo is one of them. He tattooed his last name. He hasn’t paid any attention to me despite my exceptional culinary skills🥲 I am enjoying cooking again, thanks to you Paula. Said good bye to pseudo health food.

Yfritz I thought he might have some other roots. I wasn’t sure which ones. I don’t think he uses the app as much as we do. 😐 I have been reading the words “real food” a lot for the past few days. I guess real food was always the way out! 🥘 🍝 🍜 🍚 🥖

Protein bread, pseudo pastas, fake eggs etc. Not to criticize anyone who is using them, but I was never inclined to bring stuff like that in my kitchen. Protein bread crushed my soul. I’m also not a fan of smoothies. I’d rather eat fruits as they are. Almond milk is not so bad btw.

Yfritz, I must admit I ate Konjac noddles/rice a couple of times.🤭🤭 but then I found out I didn’t need to take the real pasta pleasure from my life. Eating in a flexible way makes me more productive and less grumpy… sometimes. I hope to keep seeing your love for food 👏

Paula, do you remember you told me it’s ok to eat rice in moderation? That week I made feijoada. Ate with rice. Joy of cooking and eating returned, without affecting my weight so much. I’m having fun. I hope your Brazilian friends find as much encouragement as I received from you. I’m sure they will, and I know some of them already have! That said, having a large number of admirers could add unnecessary pressure. Please don’t forget to take care of yourself first.

YetAnother, I’m not criticizing you for eating zucchini pasta. I tend not to enjoy the idea of substituting. My dislike has nothing to do with science or fitness.… it’s more about art & literature.

Tai, I was a purist and was stubborn. For years, I used whole milk products, never believed in non fat kind. Hardcore. This year though, I ate non fat yogurt for the first time and it wasn’t bad. I’m slowly learning to be flexible. But… stay away from protein bread, that thing was weird.

Yfritz that's hilarious because I actually hate tomatoes 😂 I use them because they're pretty otherwise I only like them with cheese or cooked to oblivion. Also ditto on the weird substitutes. I've never tried protein bread but we tried chia seed pasta and it didn't go well. I liked spiralized zucchini noodles but I like zucchini a lot so that wasn't surprising.

bdixon, grilled tomatoes are heavenly though. And no, don’t waste money on protein bread. I think those weird foods got too much sodium. I found out today that the salted cod was not the culprit of my failed stew; it was protein bread that made it too salty! We live and learn.
