Calorie count is how I lost my weight and am keeping it off. I kept my calories at or below 2200 calories/day regardless during the diet phase and have only increased by a little in the maintenance phase. I allow myself up to an average monthly calorie intake of 2250 now. I did not exercise at all and still do very little and even on the rare occasions where I did exercise I did not allow that to change my food intake. Seems to be working for me. I went from 220 to averaging around 170 now. I have found that even if I eat over my calories one day that if I make up for it over the next couple of days by reducing my calories then it all averages out and I seem to be fine. I have about 1 day a month where I get my calories up to around 2700 and I just compensate for it during the rest of the week and it balances. I started my calorie count diet by take a baseline of what I was averaging for a week on calorie intake and found it was around 2300 so I set my calorie goal a hundred calories less and lost about 1 lb per week.
