Question: when you go out to eat (planned in advance), do you guesstimate the calories, or just not record calories for that day?

My kids are taking me out this weekend for an early birthday celebration, which includes supper at an Italian restaurant. I'm not sure what I can eat there, so it will likely be a salad or spaghetti marinara.

After reading others comments, the suggestion to save half for later is very excellent. Also look carefully at dinner salads sometimes they are so loaded with cheese etc that other items are really healthier. Btw (shame nearly missed this) Happy Birthday 🥳

YetAnothet, I have been very pleased overtime on chefs responses to my calling ahead. Sometimes they knock themselves out making a beautiful plate. I also have been told (Red Robin for example) they have a secret menu for special diet needs. It especially helps if you excuse yourself to use the restroom before ordering and also pre tip the wait person to keep any not healthy thing away but to keep your water flowing. Many tell me they are also watching weight and will throw on extra carrot sticks etc. At Olive Garden for example you can do the Herb Salmon while leaving off the butter and double the broccoli with a side of marinara and leave off the cheese. I guess my confidence comes from learning that restaurant often are very willing to support your goals if you are very clear ie no oils (microwaving find) extra vegetable, put cheese/sauces to the side, please bring lemon. Sorry for putting you under extra efforts but I have lost __ lbs so far and can’t go backwards. Thank you..
