Wellness check today...but I think I have a UTI. Dr. appointment went well. No UTI but something with the gut. So put a a softener. I am to pay close attention to any pain, fever, nausea or vomiting. call ASAP. Got my orders for Mammo and have it scheduled for Thursday. Now I really think I would love to have a few months without any doctor visits, but fat chance in that happening. Hubby is having some really really bad days- then he is good for a day or two. Never know what to expect. Seriously makes me so sad - I get so frustrated with him- he is so inconsistent with using the pain patches, his medication, cane the list goes on and on. I am a worry wart- If he falls at 80 yrs old- he'll surely break something. I am not able to care for all his needs and he'll have to go to a nursing home. I sound like a broken record and a nag.

You do not sound like a nag! Caring for someone you love while taking care of yourself is hard no matter who you are. I admire your gumption and appreciate that you listen to your body and mind. Proud of you! 🌻❤

Not a nag at all. My hubby and I are only 47 and I nag him day and night with his issues. I’m trying to stop but seriously when you love someone so much you want them to feel better and have a better future. I totally get your post more than you know. Be strong. ❤️🙏

I know exactly how you feel. The constant round doctor appointments are like a full time job. Every day is precious. It is not easy, we try make sure the time we have together is a higher quality of life or at least peaceful. Tomorrow is not promised. Your hubby is 80 & in pain. It's not easy. Do you guys have the option of visiting nurse or home aid? If so, it can take a phyiscal or mental load off you. Even 1-2 hours helps, a social worker can help with it. I schedule medication time on the phone, when the alarm goes off. It's time, to change the medicated pad.❣✊ Hugs your way.1 🤗

If at all possible, I try to schedule it so Jan-Mar are no dr. appointments months. Unless it's a must, I also try Telehealth appointments, because commute take a good chunk of time..

Another P.S. I no longer "nag". I asks his drs. & nurses to communicate changes he needs. It's another teaching skill. When someone has to learn something, sometimes they have to hear it differently from another source. It's also different when it coming from a "professional". Hubs uses selective hearing. I now save time & energy. He has more peace & quiet. It's a win win.

I'm a long term care (nursing home) nurse. Please use the resources in your area. There are support groups for caretakers. And for the family of those that decide on long term care. Home care is also an option to consider if 24/7 care isn't needed. This is such a difficult decision.
