Today had been my third day of no soda.. today I'm missing it. Usually if I get the craving of it, I drink a half cup of diet soda* from the fountain machine at work. Did I mention I'm allowed to have soda anytime? That makes temptation worse by far. But, I'm in control and I'm the only one who can make a difference in my life. If I hadn't did my weight loss journey 3 years ago, I would still be that 217 lb person ..or even bigger. Guess that's my motivation. So now I'm finishing writing this and taking my lazy tail to Walmart for some food shopping. Think I'm going to buy some propel water in order to curve my cravings.

I'm definitely will not drink diet anymore, NM. I knew it wasn't good for you, but i didnt know it was that bad for you. I'd rather go without first. &I thought the fountains was better, too, msbug. And nasser, I hit a stand still at 153 when I finished (my old fs is still on here).. now I'm thinking now that it's been so long I can finish it out to my goal.

I believe phosphoric acid in all carbonated soda will leech calcium from the body, specificaaly the bones. I know all too well the cravings that sodas bring... one soda begets another. More than drinking just water, a balanced meal plan has completely eliminated ALL cravings... I now only eat at scheduled times or when I am actually hungry. A better reason not to drink soda or sweet juices... EAT YOUR CALORIES... DON'T DRINK THEM... those drinks are high in calories, reducing the amount of calories you can eat, and food satisfies hunger... drinks don't.

I've looked into the adverse affects of carbonation, especially the affect on bone density -- http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/sparkling-water-healthy-regular-water-article-1.1460179 and http://www.takepart.com/article/2013/07/31/carbonated-water-not-bad-you -- and I feel comfortable enough to keep drinking sparkling water. It's not ALL I drink -- at least half of my water is plain, but when I get that craving for fizz, I'll do the juice and sparkling water route. I could be wrong -- and the people listed in the articles above -- but I'm going to continue to have a fizzy drink now and then to help curb the craving for a full-on Coke or Sprite or whatever. Good luck!
