I hate my weight chart-it just lies there completely flacid. What happened to the love?

I gained two pounds this week according to the tormentor (scale). That puts me right back where I started on the challenge. Have not had the guts to post it yet. Will go for a run and re-weigh. Have TOM-so maybe that's the cause but really it's the same pattern for the last six months. A six month plateau? Is that even possible? I know I have to shake things up. Do the SB Phase 1. I have to get into the proper mindset. I am overwhelmed with work and worry.

Good thing: Taking the testosterone, Vit E and Primrose Oil has REALLY helped with PMS symptoms. IThe girls feel fine, even running and my mood is far more stable. I recommend it highly (well the vits at least) Am concerned about some other-NFPT side-affects though. Maybe that's the price I have to pay? Why must everything be a choice between the lesser of two evils? Oh dear, there's my dark side peeking through. Off to run and breathe in the good and out the bad.

Later skaters!

You know what you have to do, sb plan sounds good. I googled breaking plateau a few times and found several ideas. I learned that although I wasn't eating too bad to gain, I was eating enough not to contiue to lose. Just the simple snacking that you dont chart. You know you have to switch things up. But if right now you are overwhelmed w/ other things, its best to settle those things first. Remember things only you can control deserve that stress(nothing really deserves stress!) but you know what I mean -don't stress over the things you can't control... haha that was the quote!

What cindyshine...snacking and not charting it? Don't make me.... lol I suggest people up their caloric intake by adding a few almonds and one tablespoon of peanut butter. It adds up insanely fast! I'm not sure what's going on with you Densible. Maybe we need to take a thorough look at your food diary and see if we can figure something out. You have tried switching things up correct? Even exercise, the way you eat, you did try that correct? Hang in there. Where there's a will there's a way!

Imluuvd I read your comment to wecandothis and wanted to ask you to run an analysis of my food diary but was too scared to ask and afraid of finding out what I think I already know. Maybe I cannot eat ANY carbs of any kind-including fruit and sugar AND wine. That is too sad to contemplate-so I remain in denial. Maybe i eat too much fat. I never seem to keep it at arpound 20g. Apart from this past weekend, I keep a very thorough and I think accurate diary-although sometimes I think I must be one of those people that eat in their sleep. YES Cynthia my dear-I WON"T lift weights! I am acting like a big baby about this and have dug my feet in. Even saying it-I know I am being defiant but still can't snap out of it. I used to lift-up to about 4 months ago and then I got allergic to the gym. I still have my membership and plan to go everyday...I am a good planner!, lol. I have switched up exercise-am running 3-5 miles almost everyday instead of walking/hiking. Doing flat and hills, sprints and jogs. This has been going on for about 3 weeks and nnnnnnothing! Now that is just crazy. Signed: Stuck on the crazy train.

lol~ snap out of that last thought first of all! Lifting is really not the only thing you can do... its a just something different. There is pillates, yoga, calisthsomethings, that band thing... just doing a few things in the am or before bed, anything to throw off your routine now. The lady at the gym explained to me that Cardio only helps your heart and lungs, yes you can lose weight successfully in the begining but then you have to add weights or something else. (now read my journal for more info, did you? sorry i forgot) but any way, the key IS muscle burns MORE calories than the rest of your body...so don't you want more muscle to burn EXTRA GERMAN CHOCOLATE?? ;D now i got your attention huh!?

There are a couple different theories on how to break plateaus, but I think you should raise your calories. If you're logs are accurate, this is probably what's stalling you. You are about 10 pounds away from your goal, so you have to lose weight differently than say if you had 50+ pounds to go. At this point your body doesn't necessarily need to lose weight, but you would still like to (that's why the last 10 are called vanity pounds). Anyway, putting yourself in a severe caloric deficit is not going to work for people that are close to goal. Your body is amazing at keeping you alive by slowing its metabolism to make up for your reduced intake, and right now it is doing just that. Now, even though you need to raise your calories, you don't want to do it drastically. You need to do it slowly so you don't add a lot of pounds back trying to reset your metabolism back to normal. Just add 100 more calories to your daily amount per week until you get to where you need to be. I'm going to assume this number is going to be about 1350 calories per day, but message me and I can do more in depth calculations. You may gain a pound or two while resetting your metabolism, but don't panic. Once you're where you need to be it will be a lot easier to lose. Also, you will have to increase your exercise to lose the last 10. Changing your routine is also a plus if you have been doing the same thing for a long time. For instance, if you're only running, then you might want to bike or do bodyweight exercises at home (if you're allergic to the gym). However you do it, the exercise is probably going to need to be increased while you reset your system and then go on to lose the last 10. There are other little things that can be done, but I think you will have a solid start if you just raise your calories a bit and increase your workouts (in both variety and intensity).

Thank you Divided and Cindy! I must say I did calculate my resting metabolic thingy and raised my cals to about 1300-1400 per day a few months ago for about a month. Didn't gain or lose so I slipped back into my 1000 cals most days routine which used to work-I lost 23 lbs doing that-cardio and weights. I am really afraid to eat more. I absolutely agree it's the last 10 pounds and the fact that I have to exercise more-get more muscles to burn more fat-yes Cindy-hope you are happy now, to get to my "fake" goal. My "real" goal is actually 125. DBZ-I will message you later if okay. I have to get my head sorted. I promise I will try anything you recommend. I've worked myself into a bit of a lather now.

Girl, I'm cryin' in my beer (low-cal of course) with you. It is SO dang frustrating to not be able to move that scale in a downward motion! I'm sure TOM is the cause of your gain. So keep hanging in there with your Plateau Sister and we WILL eventually get those numbers to move down. YES WE WILL!

giggle. You said flacid in your journal. I'm so immature. You've gotten so much great advice above! I'm eavesdropping! I haven't been getting to the gym much lately either. Do you have those band thingies? Some resistance work could help even if you aren't lifting. Or an exercise class or DVD that combines your aerobic with resistance. Hang in there!
