Entered a minefield yesterday - staying with family who LOVE all of my greatest weaknesses. Arrived last night to pizza ready and waiting. Today, fresh-baked cookies and cinnamon buns. Bowls of chocolate and candy on every surface, ice cream in the freezer, all of the things I am trying to avoid are right at hand. I haven't been handling it well these last two days. This is going to be tricky...

It’s so hard sometimes. But, it’s also empowering to walk away. Envision yourself at your desired goal, keep seeing that image, be strong. You can do this!!

Sounds to me like their “love language” includes food! It’s hard to manage sometimes. My daughter makes fantastic sticky toffee pudding (!) when I visit because she knows I love it. I usually, without making a fuss, just take half a serving, then compliment her profusely on how delicious it is. She feels her efforts have been appreciated and I don’t get (quite as) fat. Win, win.

I find that as soon as you put *especially a favorite food* on the "do not eat list" it makes it harder to not overindulge when it is around... just like grammalaura said only take a small serving just enough to satisfy the craving. Then walk away... one thing I always try to remind myself of is that moderation is the key :)
