Finding balance is always a challenge - I don't care who you are, or what type of eating plan you have chosen! But life is so much more than FOOD!
There was a point this past week, when I put on my bathing suit to go to the pool at the hotel. For a brief moment I started to tear up and get upset - as I felt totally 'ugly'. NO, not because of any weight issues - or even because of self-esteem issues related to weight... but because I have this big, ugly scar on the top of my thigh!
My 17 yr old son came over to me, put his arms around me and gave me a big hug! He looked me in the eye and said, "Mom, repeat after me... I am healthy and happy and cancer free!" He said it two or three more times before I heard my mouth open and the words follow out to repeat after him... I am HEALTHY, HAPPY and CANCER FREE!
OK - WOW did I feel better! I totally stopped thinking about the scar - could not have cared less about what someone else might have thought when we got to the pool area... and looked at my son with such joy in my heart - as he really did make such a difference to me in that moment!
Vanity can be a tricky thing. If you are doing all of this for all of the wrong reasons - you will likely (eventually) lose your resolve and return to older eating habits and older ways.
But if you can focus on wanting to change things in your life, in your mindsets, in your heart - to be about YOU becoming a healthier, happier YOU ... than you will succeed in ways that have nothing to do with pant size or the scale! Oh, they will change too... and you will certainly enjoy that part of it... but it's only part of what will change in your life!
You really can make a difference to your life and the quality of it... it just takes time, dedication, and perserverance.

Yeah, he's a keeper! Sure hope he doesn't fall in love and get married too young... I will surely melt when he leaves for college! Vacation was awesome...wrote a few things in the last two journals before this one. Much Love.

Wow your son is very wise to be his age. He has seen alot and heard a lot

What a wonderful son...my boys say those kinds of things to me all the time...it makes my heart feel so good. Glad that you enjoyed your vacation!
