Folks, this is why you shouldn't get too distressed over any one scale reading. Over 5 consecutive days, I weighed in at 139 for 4 of them. Monday, I hit 138. Yesterday, BOOM! Up to 141. This morning I'm back down to 138.

I see so many people on here getting down because the scale went up 0.2 pounds, racking their brains over what they did "wrong " the prior day. Weight loss is not some neat linear progression. The body is a dynamic system. It could be you ate more salt, didn't get as much sleep, have more in your bowels your body hasn't gotten rid of yet. I've often had the experience where I'm up a pound the day after a hard workout.

Look at the trends. Bobbles are normal. Do you have a WOE that's working for you and you're sticking to it reasonably well? Are you improving your nutrition and exercise? How do your clothes fit?

It's only if you see a trend that you may need to reassess. If it's one day, relax. Don't get depressed. Don't beat yourself up. Just keep moving forward. 😊

I agree 100%! The scale may fluctuate daily its the monthly weigh in's that are important. Also, if your clothes fit better, body looks more solid, measurements going down you're improving.

That is the entire reason I began to wait only once a week. Good news? Yesterday, my weigh day, showed I lost 1.2 pounds. Yippee 😊

I agree completely & appreciate your mindset- have to be very mindful of this bc it’s def too easy for me to get hyper focused on the scale and try to ‘figure out’ minor scale changes!

Wonderful Wisdom! As my dad used to say, the proof is in the pudding. Where were you 3 months ago? Where are you going to be in 3 months?

I'm glad the weekly weigh-in works for you Maguscanook. And glad you're seeing success! A lot of people use the weekly strategy. I don't because my weight often jumps or drops 2-3 pounds in a day, so if I weigh on one day a week, it might be on one of those weird bobble days. I weigh daily, but keep a running 7-day average, and only post my weight on FS on Sundays.

Thanks all! 😁 I just felt the need to get this off my chest because I see so many people on FS twisting themselves into knots over the scale and it makes me sad. 😥 I just want people to be happy and healthy!
