Question for the day:

What are you thoughts on Carb Cycling? Do you eat higher carbs on weight training days or the same amount of carbs every day??

personally I do the same amount of calories and pretty close to the same macros every day so my carbs are about the same on training vs non training days.

I am the same as otb123. But I like the concept of carb cycling however it's another layer of complication I don't want to deal with.

PS I came by to see your dog and ended up answering your question too. It's a good question!

I think it matters more on whether you are in maintenancce mode or weight loss. Eating more carbs on days you workout makes sense once you've already lost the excess pounds. If you're still in weight loss mode, I would simply rearrange the day's carbs to be eaten before the workout -- and not increase the carb macros or daily calories. It goes without saying that any increase in carbs does not include garbage carbs (e.g. ice cream, cookies, cake, chips, etc.) which have saturated fats and sodium. The extra calories should come from carbs that boost your workouts (e.g. fresh fruit, a plain sweet potato) since they have fiber, water, nutrients and minerals.
