Dazey, I'm sorry you're hungry and by the time you read this, your day is over. You shouldn't have to be hungry while you're losing weight. I have no idea what your eating plan is, so I'll tell you what I do to keep from being hungry. First, I try to avoid processed foods and eat lots of natural foods like fruits and vegetables and proteins (meat, poultry, seafood, eggs). I find vegetables are my best "fillers" to keep me from being hungry, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts. Also roasted, tossed with just a tiny bit of oil. Zucchini, salads with vinegar or low-fat dressings, like Bolthouse yogurt dressings. Fresh fruit satisfies my urge for sweets, and, while not as low-cal as vegetables, are great fillers also. Shirataki noodles are a great pasta substitute, but some brands taste better than others, so find a brand you like and follow the instructions for use. Seafood is a great, low-calorie protein, when I'm really hungry, I eat a big catfish filet baked in the oven. I am 79 years old, do very little exercise, and eat 1600 calories a day. I do CICO (calories in, calories out) and have no forbidden foods, just plan my day carefully if I want a high-calorie food. Many people here have found that weight lifting is a great aid to weight loss, so, join a gym or find ways to do lifting at home on YouTube. I hope some of this is helpful to you. I'm sorry for all the pain you have suffered in your life, and I'm glad you're here. Good luck on your journey. 🌹

I find that I can stay between 1600 and 1800 calories by eating foods that have lots of fiber. So when meal planning, I start off with my beans, lentils and whole grains then fill in my veggies and fruits, then hit the rest of my protein requirements with nuts, seeds and animal proteins. Plus you can prep yourself cut veggies for snacking if you are still hungry. Try to plan 2-3 servings of whole fruit in your day. The fiber keeps you filled and the natural sugar appeals to sweet cravings.

all about finding filling low cal foods that uou can eat alot of to feel full. pasta zero shiritaki noodles, spinach, egg whites, broccoli, cauliflower, baby carrots, mushrooms, cucumbers, just a few of the ones I have used to really full the belly without raising the calories

I try to eat a lot of protein. It's supposed to help you stay full longer. It's hard cause I like to eat when I am bored or stressed. I like protein bars especially the caramel chocolate ones. Helps with the cravings for sweets. I love sweets but they don't love me.

When the calories run out toward the end of the day, I enjoy a hot calorie-free tea, cider, or decaf coffee. if I still have a meal to go, roll ups using Romain lettuce and chicken, or PB2, or low-fat cream cheese can satisfy me.

I took a look at your food diary, and it doesn't appear that you've started your anti-inflammatory diet yet. The R.D. that you saw Monday should have given you an appropriate calorie count to aim for based on your height and goal weight, and a list of foods to buy. Ice cream, jelly, canned food and other processed sugary items are inflammatory and should be pitched in the trash. You won't be hungry if you eat what your dietician recommended.

JustBananas- some things are more unavoidable then others with school food, we really cant bring our own lunch, we eat with the kids. Food is served family style instead of stereotypical lunch line. As for anti inflammatory, i CANNOT just head first dive into a different WOE like that. With my Binge Eating Disorder, it triggers certain things that lead me to binge if i restrict too much. For example- thinking i can NEVER eat chocolate again, leads me to wanting it, then i get it and overdo it, is one small example. I havent eaten salad anδ certain veggies in YEARS. I hadnt had potata for over 10 years. I had to slowly eat a lil bit over time, until i was comfortable with eating a baked potata. That alone took 4 years. Fear is a big part of it from my time restricting(bulemia/anorexia in high school/college).. Buying a salad and expecting to eat it as a dinner/side is unrealistic for me. Id have to incorporate it into a burger, for example, Slowly introduce it until i can eat a salad without fear.

If I eat over 50 g carbs per meal, I get hungry and can't control myself.

Sorry -- I got confused as to why you saw the RD in the first place. I thought it was because you were diagnosed with osteoarthritis and had issues with inflammation & pain. If you don't even try the anti-inflammatory diet, then it most certainly will not help you, whether or not you see a therapist for all the fear issues.

I do have osteoarthritis, and i mostly went to talk to her for weight loss: calories per day, macros % and their grams per day. I will be doing PT for my knee. I dont have as much pain now campared to 1st 2 weeks of school. In time, ill be able to switch my WOE but it has to be a slow change. I grew up Mediterranean; Greek and Italian. An anti-inflammatory WOE isnt anything new to me. My dad preaches it all the time; i understand it. I know it helps, and I dont want to fail. If i dive in, i will fail. I know this and respect it about myself. "Time heals all wounds" as long as the wounds are acknowledged and there is work put in towards healing.
