I have found that there are certain foods that I just can't do in the small portions that are recommended or are necessary for weight loss. I can't do a 1/2 cup of pasta. Are you kidding? That's not a meal. Or, the one I like, the 3/4 cup serving of cereal. As much as I loooooove pasta, cereal, etc....I do much better if I just stay away from them completely. When I make pasta and spaghetti sauce for my family, I have found that using spaghetti squash or cooked zucchini is a good substitution for me. I especially like cooked zucchini as a delivery vehicle for the really good stuff....the spaghetti sauce, I can have more of it, and it's filling and satisfying. Oh--and I allow myself one cheat day per week. During Lent, that's been Sundays for me. I eat whatever I want on that day. As much as I want. And what's funny...I dream about all the stuff I'm saving up for that day, and when the day arrives, I just don't eat as much as you might think.
