Heaven help me. Hubby is baking again. His cranberry orange bread is healthier than the standard recipe - less oil & sugar, subs in some whole grains. There are worse things I could be eating. All things in moderation :)

Sounds great, Hazel! We don't use Splenda -- just less sugar. It really allows you to taste the food more when it's not buried in sweet. I'm known for my lemon bars, because with only 2/3 the sugar the recipe calls for, the lemon flavor just POPS! I learned well after we started cutting it down that reducing the sugar is also a high altitude baking trick -- we live at 6,000 feet

I typically cut down the sugar in my recipes as well. Cutting it out too much affects how some bake goods rise and brown
