Coffee counts???? I am scared now

liv001 -- it counts in the quantities I drink it 🤣 I measure my consumption in pots, not cups. I don't track it exactly -- just throw in a pot per day, which comes to 21 calories. I track it more for the protein and potassium than the calories. Enough to matter in those quantities. If you drink a cup or two like a normal human being, I wouldn't worry about it unless you want credit for the potassium, which it has a fair amount of

It was pretty dang tasty, ladygigi. Between the veggies and yeast, I was able to skip salting the eggs, and I didn't salt the squash or wild rice, so it kept the sodium in check. On work days, I can't get this elaborate, so it was a nice treat on a holiday

Looks good. How much protein in that meal?

Thanks, losingtowin! I do love my fruits and veggies 😊 Salzman -- just over 31 grams, not counting my pot of coffee. Considerably more than I usually get at breakfast, as I'm pretty much vegetarian + fish at home. I'm not sold on high protein, and I'm definitely not low carb, but I've been seeing some things on increased protein needs as we age, so I've been trying to up it a bit while still taking in 40-50 grams fiber

Maybe this will help you add flour bran in the yogourt.

Thanks, yago! I often use flax or chia to bump it up. Just wasn't in the mood for flax this morning and figured I'd make it up later

I never hit the recommend daily fiber. Don’t think I ever have lol. No society pushes fiber like the U.S. I only eat 2 per say full meals a day . Most Americans don’t eat half the recommended fruits and veggies per FDA. I just eat whole grain bread, fresh fruit and probably one meal with a veggie and rice. At 61 now, how did we survive without fiber growing up? I’ll humor you. My grandfather hit 90 before passing and he lived on TV dinners 🤦♂️

And my grandfather was a raging alcoholic who chewed tobacco all his life and lived until 90. Doesn't make either alcoholism or tobacco use healthy. Eat whatever you want, but I'll stick with the WOE that's made me healthier than ever

I don’t know WOE. I do know weight loss. I’ve lost major weight too many times in the past 40 years. 230>165, 250>200 now I’m unfortunately going from 290 to 200 or less down 15 lbs in two weeks. That weight gain was from 12 years heavy abusive drinking which I gave up. That’s all on me. Was just a little friendly insight nothing more. Please notice the trend though. That’s typical for people on the diet roller coaster.

Sorry I got snippy, HawgRyder. My apologies. Regardless, I really am not on a roller coaster. I actually prefer the foods in a higher fiber diet, and it makes me feel better and keeps me more full. I'm down 20 pounds from the beginning of 2022, and I've done it without a single day of hunger. So it's working for me. Hope whatever your strategy is works for you 🙂

I keep seeing mushroom meals. They look so good so I am inspired to make mushroom soup this week. I have made about half a dozen kinds of soup in the last two weeks. My freezer is full and now so is my neighbor’s. She is a new widow so it’s nice for her to be free to take a container if she doesn’t feel like cooking. We share.
