Journal de Evie1010, 04 juil. 11

Long time no journal.... :/ I wanted to hop on here and give an update. I've missed chatting with my FS buds; and I hope that everyone is doing super great!

Well, I leave today for a much-needed vacation. I will be Cancun with my family for two luxurious weeks. I have decided to stick to my WOE while down in Mexico. I have even communicated with public relations at the resort to request that the chef of the main restaurant to make for me a low carb/sugar free dessert for my stay. While on vacation, it would be challenging not to have any nice treat for two whole weeks; so I am so pleased that they are willing to work with me! I have already sent them a recipe for my NY-style Cheesecake - it tastes just like its from the Cheesecake Factory. And I sent my famous low carb Pound Cake recipe. I am bringing down the almond flour; so everything should be taken care of. Furthermore, in order to help me be successful, I am bringing down little baggies of the dry ingredients for my MiMs. I have labeled each bag in Spanish with the directions to add the egg/butter/microwave steps; so that way I will have some healthy carbs and good fiber each day. I'll have plenty of seafood, steak, chicken, fruits and vegetables; so I'll be good to go! No reason I should have to limit my success and be tempted to eat off plan when I've tried to prepare so well. (I will miss the frozen drinks, of course. I used to always drinkt the alcohol-free banana daquiries, pina colodas, bahama mamas, etc. Oh well, it's not worth a ten pound gain to indulge in those things. So, I'll forget about it.)

So far OWL is going well. My WL has been pretty slow, however - much due to the fact that Jim and I are going through a difficult time. Life has thrown my sweetheart and me a rough curve-ball. We're trusting the Lord, loving eachother and pushing through this trial as best as we can; but the stress we are under is manifesting itself in our bodies: me with slow WL; and with him, an awful gout flare up. :( We are praying for healing; and praising God thru this storm - knowing that He is our comfort and our help in times of trials. He is my rock and my fortress - whom I can run into and find shelter. I love my husband so much - I'm gonna miss him like crazy. Due to our "crisis" he is not able to go on vacation with me - as he has to deal with things here at home. A dear friend is taking his place and we'll meet up with my family down there in Cancun. Thankful I get free calls to the states; and will be calling him excessively. :)

OWL is going well for me. I have added almonds to my "rung" of new carbs; as well as walnuts and peanuts. Over time, I have also added a tiny bit of carrots and some strawberries. Watermelon is not a great choice for me on OWL but company brought it over, wanting to bring something that they felt was a safe option for me (how sweet!) so I did partake...and still lost a pound. Yay! I believe my carb limit is somewhere around 28-30 net carbs a day. Pretty low threshold, but I'll take it. The hard part with OWL is the experimenting -- tough to find that 'sweet spot' -- then, with the poopy stressfulness we are enduring right now, coupled with PCOS which already slows down my WL, it's been going at a snail's pace. But, I am proud of myself because I am being really patient with ME and my scale. I really love the foods I am eating; the feeling of being in control - me telling my body what it will do and not the other way around. I am okay with it - progress is still progress - even if it is slow. I love how my WOE makes me FEEL. For this reason, I am sticking to the plan - even on vacation - which is huge for me.

I have picked up my exercise regimine recently, for which I am thankful. Having a blast hiking the trails in the early morning. The sights, sounds and smells of the Blue Ridge foothills sing to my soul! I love it! Looking forward to walking multiple miles a day in Cancun; swimming in a one-mile-long pool!; and checking out the health club while there.

Today I am THANKFUL for my many blessings; and for God's unmerited favor to me. I have been blessed with the most loving, devoted, considerate, endearing husband a woman could have; I have a terrific family whom I adore; I have the most loving and loyal treasures called friends (and Paula is definitely among them!); my home is a beautiful haven of rest; I am fortunate beyond all measure for loyal customers and an exciting business opportunity which helps me to really make a differnce in people's lives. I love what I do - I love my life! Thank you God for your blessings on me! "Bless the Lord, Oh my soul: and do not forget all your benefits."

Hi sweetie, I've been absent a lot as well and sorry to hear that you and Jim are having difficulties in life (but hopefully not with yourselves as a couple). I know you will get through whatever is going on. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday and come back refreshed and ready to take on the world. Your weight loss may be slow but its in the right direction. Big hugs.

Hi Is! Thanks so much for your kind words and well-wishes. It is always delightful to hear from you. Rest assure that the stresses Jim and I are facing are challenges outside of our relationship; and the love and the devotion we have for one another our "glue". I love how the difficulties we face in life remind us of the truly most important things. I am so fortunate to be married to such a terrific and attentive husband. I'm having a fabulous time in Cancun with the family!!
