I know now I am in ketosis; I have the "Atkins breath" when waking up in the morning now. I figure if I stay under 40g of carbs a day and aim for more like 20 I should lose one to two pounds a week. This diet probably takes more discipline than any other, but it does work faster. It is too easy to go over 2000 calories on a regular diet, and unless one is working out four hours a day, one can't lose weight - at least I found it difficult. The weather is hot 90* at least today and humid, maybe showers this evening. Tomorrow I may go swimming. Everyone on Atkins be sure to get enough potassium, low levels of it are common on this diet - low-carb sources include avocados and mushrooms. Today I heard low levels of potassium have been linked to heart attacks. Potassium is mostly found in fruits and vegetables and a lot of things one on Atkins normally does not eat...
