The cat snuck out. If you've read my posts for awhile, you know which one. Tony, the brat. He doesn't come back until he's good and ready. And it's just after 5pm and his dinner time. I don't want him out when it's dark. But I know all I can do is wait.
Went to the grocery store on Wednesday for milk, half and half and some fruit and vegetables to make stir frys. The little local market had nothing! It did have the milk and h&h, I know it's delivered Tuesday around noon so I usually get it Wednesday morning. The produce department was almost empty. Not a bag of potatoes no bulk potatoes. No yellow onions but I was able to get a white onion. No brussels sprouts, no carrots, no bagged spinach, No pineapple spears, or watermelon, or cantaloupe spears. Did snag a container of blackberries and a cucumber. And celery that had been cut and cleaned. The bread shelves had nothing at all except maybe 2 packages of hamburger buns. The Truckee Sourdour display had not one thing. Not ONE egg- well they cost too much anyway. Lots of empty shelves. I asked an employee what happened. Well, there is snow, lots of snow in Grass Valley where lots of employees drive in from. Many deliveries can't make it. Truckee Sourdough bread comes from Truckee, way up in avalanche country. I was told they were the only store open, everything in Grass Valley, 2 Safeways, 1 Raleys, and numerous other big grocery stores had no power, no employees could get to work and no deliveries could get into town. Hard to believe. We got about 2 inches of snow that melted the same day but Grass Valley - a half hour away got about 20 inches and they are expecting another foot or so. Even though they get some snow every year, it's usually just fun snow, like I had here. A couple of inches and you can take pictures. So I got what I could at the store. An employee said they had lots than needed to be unpacked and put on the shelves and said he could go find what I need. I needed brussels sprouts and other veggies and fruit. Told him I'm come back Friday. But I didn't go today. I was told they expect to be busy with everyone who usually shops in Grass Valley to come here to shop and don't know what to expect. Glad I keep lots of canned food, jars of applesauce, bags of rice, for times like this. I have plenty of food and don't need to worry if I can't get brussels sprouts until next week. Walked from the grocery store to my dentist's office to conirm my 11:30 appointment. Was told they had just left me a message to cancel the appointment since the hygienist can't get into work. I was happy that appointment was cancelled. I usually need a few days to get mentally prepared for that appointment and I had forgotten about it. I've always been so scared to go to the dentist. But I love the dentist I found just outside my neighborhood about 5 years ago, and his staff. I'm not scared anymore.
Haven't been eating well on my plan this week. Thinking I may not meet my 1 pound goal on Sunday. The scale had me up 2 pounds today. So I've eaten very little today, and will likely just have liquids tomorrow. And then I'll be happy on Sunday if I lose just a little.
Rain starts again tomorrow. But today it was really nice out. Took Bobby for a long walk, just about an hour. Longer than I had planned so I was tired when I got home, too many little hills to tackle. But Bobby was excited seeing deer and lots and lots squirrels and even some cats.
