Hello everyone. I turned 59 today. For the first year in a lot of years I have been looking forward to this one. I am looking forward to next year even more.

I changed my WOE 258 days ago. This has changed many things other than just my weight. Down 104lbs, blood pressure normal, A1c and cholesterol normal. All of those things were to be expected.

What I didn’t expect. Learning to enjoy food prep. Teaching myself enough in the kitchen that I now want to cook. I look for new things to eat to expand our variety. I grocery shop every three days and look forward to it. I don’t eat enough if I track calories so I stopped. I only track fiber. I find that everything else falls into line.

I now sleep well and have far fewer depressive episodes. I am easier to live according to those people around me. Now the fun part starts. I am up to 3 miles of running at a time. Soon I’ll start playing tennis again. I am doing a cycling century this fall with my sister. I plan on hitting 60 and looking back to 59 saying remember what I couldn’t do then. Once you find your WOE it all becomes easy. That’s when you know it’s sustainable. I doubt I would have gotten here without this community. For that i thank each of you very much.

Happy Birthday! Isn't it amazing how many of us have to wait until our bodies rebel to figure out how to eat. The general ignorance we have about food and nutrition is crazy! So glad you are Celebrating a Happier and Healthier life! 🍻🍻to many more!

Gotta love a success story. Please tell me you no longer qualify for medications to treat diabetes, HBP or high cholesterol. And that your doctor gave you a big grin when you told him you eat whole foods now! BTW, I agree with your "Go Big" approach. Big changes = Big results (I've never been a fan of baby steps). What a great way to spend your birthday! 💚👏🏻🥂

Thank you Slyone. It takes effort to eat well but garbage is available everywhere with no effort. It’s crazy what I used to put in my body but I’m happy to have that behind me. Should have done this 30 years ago :-)

Hi JB. My doc was funny. He never believed I was going to fix this. He pushed meds hard. He walked in looked at me and looked at my chart and said wow I must be a great doctor. You know what’s funny not only do I have zero prescriptions but I also don’t need anything over the counter either. Antacids and Tylenol used to be staples. Exercise is important but it’s really all about the food isn’t it?

Great job!! I feel that way about turning 60 this year as I have really turned things around and found what works for me. What a great success story and I think the doctor should have congratulated you on your hard work!! I remember going back after the doctor told me to eat a Mediterranean diet and do something that makes me sweat. I come back in and all my numbers were awesome and he said “Wow no one listens to me!”

Hi Red, I told my doctor I was going to take care it without meds. After I did he said everyone says that and almost no one does. He did not give me any nutritional advice at all. It’s great that you found weight lifting and are happy with it. I love my kettlebells but have always loved my cardio. Whatever activity gets us moving is great

I think doctors don't want to assume that their patients have hit rock bottom in their food addiction unless they've threatened to chop off their feet. Even then, some addicts still will choose cake over their toes. At the very least, people will pop all the pills and continue to eat the crap that got them sick in the first place. You're an exception, @Russell, not the rule. SHINE, Baby!✨
