Journal de Kingstephen, 27 juil. 15

So yesterday was a challenge, had corporate box tickets to the football, which included lunch, free drinks and afternoon snacks etc over a four and a half hour period. Still I did tone back on what I would have done previously, will have a fast day today and check the scales in the morning, hopefully the damage wont be too dramatic, and this week Im back on the treadmill so hope to finish at a lower weight at the end of this week, to last week and keep the curve going downwards. Occasional cheat days are what life is all about now.

While ever you have a mindset that says you can somehow exercise away excesses, you are fighting a losing battle. You cannot do it, it won't work, that isn't how our bodies work. Think about it, olden days, no gyms, no exercising, everyone thin, nowadays, a gym on every corner, people doing insane amounts of exercise, and everyone fat. Exercise is a great thing, but not as a way to lose weight. Look at most people on this site, they are all doing it, and is it working for them? Don't stop exercising, but stop believing in the myth that you can outrun a bad diet. Not trying to be critical here, just dispelling the second most common weight loss myth. :)

Thanks for commenting BG, I agree with you 100%, actually when I said I was 'back on the treadmill' I wasn't being literal, I more meant the diet and life style treadmill, but allowing myself one cheat day a week.

ah, my bad then mate, sorry. Still, not sure that 'living' should be considered a treadmill. I can't help but think that if what you are doing conjures up that treadmill mindset, it may be time to re-evaluate what it is that you are doing, and asking if it is working for you. In any case, one (or even two) days a week of indulgence is a good idea, rather than a bad one :)

Sounds like it was a good time though. It would have been hard for anyone to pass up! :)

IMO there are times to loosen up and enjoy the moment, sounds like yesterday was one of those times, you made better choices than you would have in the past, and have an adjustment plan in place. All good stuff, that's how we live life.

Very cool that you held back from a "gut bashing" (as my British hubby would say) but still were able to eat, drink, and enjoy yourself. That is what it's all about ... moderation. It's something we have to all learn to do ... me especially. I do have my own little "gut bashes" (anyone say chocolate? or ice cream?). I think you are doing just GREAT!!!

Yup Mom, I succumbed to ice cream last night. My DH tempted me, and I thought it was the lovely ice cream I had had the night before and ended up disappointed. Nothing worse than eating something naughty and finding it wasn't worth it. I think occasional cheat days are fine, but as long as it really IS occasional (note to self) :p
