Journal de veeshus, 01 févr. 24

my relationship with food has always been unhealthy. I'll do good for awhile-eat right, exercise, and lose 30lbs then I gain 40-50lbs back. I'm tired and miserable. I went to the doctor today and got blood work done. I'm crossing my fingers for good results! The scale broke my heart though, I've never weighed this much in my entire life. Can somebody please tell me something? I'm running low on hope.

Vee - I can tell you that if you look inside yourself and decide today enough is enough. That you're sick of yo-yo dieting. That this time around you can and will do it. That if you pour every bit of effort of your being into it. That you can make this go around the last time. Ask yourself why not me? Why can't I do this and stay with it? You can... you have to change your relationship with food. Work on your emotions connected to food. You have to learn to use food as fuel as it was intended. A saying that stood out to me early on in my weight loss journey was this. I wasn't eating to live, I was LIVING TO EAT. There's some depth to that statement. If you love and value yourself and want to live as long as possible. Let's do it this time! Look back at all the other attempts and try to pinpoint where you start to lose momentum. Then work tirelessly on improving those areas. Sorry this is all over the place but I wanted to encourage you some. We all deserve to be happy and healthy. Yet only a small % will do what it takes to get there and stay there. Are you ready to make this a lifestyle change and not just another stab at a diet? Only you can answer that over time. I'll end with this. Just try to win the day each day. Don't look for the finish line because there isn't one. Just look to get just a tad bit better each day. The goal in this is consistency not perfection.

Lean protein, fruits and veggies, grains, legumes. Don’t lose the weight too fast. Steady calorie deficit. Count every calorie all the time, even when you don’t eat well. Wear a FitBit to track calories burned. Add weight lifting and cardio but gradually. Remember that exercise will make you hungry, especially cardio. Find low calorie appetite killers that you like. Amazon sells dried edamame snacks that are super filling and only 100-120 calories. Drink lots of water. No soda, including diet version.

You got this, you can do whatever you put your mind too, believe in yourself and trust yourself and follow the plans and goals you set. It’s one minute, one hour, and one day at a time. All three previous comments are spot on. They all are a motivation to me and I’ve have been here only 3 weeks. I truly believe everything unity1234, and Joe Not Exotic are right on point with their words and it’s proven that with the right goals and mindset you’ll achieve all your dreams in this life. Keep your head and chin up and don’t give up on yourself.

Robin - Thank you for the kind words and complimentary approach. I may be a few weeks late but welcome to Fatsecret! I like what you mentioned as well. As far as minute to minute, day to day, and so on so forth. I literally look at life in general including weight loss/health. As me vs myself every day ! I look to win the day and then it's on to the next one. You seem very insightful so I'm glad to have you here. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments as well! Seems as though you've been through quite a bit. Look at you here able to share and inspire others with your story.

It is heartbreaking how much a number on a scale can affect our hope. Believe it or not you are in the right place. You can start again by using this place in the most helpful way. Log your food before you decide whether or not to put it in your mouth. Use the food library for your shopping list. Log several food options to compare and decide which to purchase. Progress not perfection. Ask for the grace to forgive yourself and give yourself the time it takes to learn what works for you so you can keep moving forward. Everyone here has been where you are. You are not alone. Lean on others and let them lean on you. Share every little victory. You will be uplifted by how mich it means to others.

There are those who will, with seeming authority, recommend to you the diet that worked for them as if it's the one true way or secret trick. There is no one ideal diet, but there is an ideal diet for YOU. I think Layne Norton said it best: all weight loss involves restriction, but the goal is to find the restriction that feels least restrictive to you. What you have to remember is that whatever you do to lose the weight, you'll have to keep doing to maintain the loss. I'd also encourage you to find a way of eating that supports your long-term health and not just short-term weight loss. I've watched my father yo-yo for decades because he gets excited, goes overboard, and then can't keep it up, so he rebounds. Slow, steady, and sustained wins the race. I wish you success. We're here for you 👍
