My scale has a flat surface that is easily wiped down....no removable parts. I can also place a dish on it & zero it out, then weigh the food. I often do that when measuring something messy of foods like meat. It makes preparing a salad or my morning fruit bowl easy. I just zero it out as I add ingredients. It wasn't expensive....bought it at Walmart.

Yeah just put a plate or Saran Wrap on it, zero it or tare then weigh. 😊

Thanks Sherry and Misty! The scale has a tiny surface and I'll have to read through the directions to figure out how to zero it out. My old scale has a huge bowl on top that I zero out and a face like a clock in front. I see something similar is available weighing in grams. I may buy a new scale when I move but what I have works for now. I like the idea of saran wrap!

Morticia -- I'll get used to gram but right now I'm checking grams compared to ounces on Google.I know about what 3-5 ounces of chicken breast looks like so I compare to the grams the scale tells me.

I put my scale into a plastic bag to keep it clean andi also use a bowl or plate. My scale is simple, just press the on button with the empty bowl on it and it starts up at zero.

Thanks Abba! I did what you said and the scale zeroed out! Didn't do as good today. All because I bought a loaf of dark brown rye bread and made 2 slices of toast for a !ate breakfast and then 2 more for an early dinner. So I skipped the healthy meal I had planned. I know better than buying that particular bread, but it was on sale!

Thanks JMA! I did good yesterday, not so good today, but hope tomorrow will be okay! I was just just about to look for your earlier journal post I saw this morning to comment on it. I know I couldn't resist a hot dog off the grill!

I’m so happy for your success today!🎉🎉 You got this!
I weigh all my foods. I use plastic wrap as well.

I found it helpful too, to use a tall narrow plastic container, the base from my immersion blender if I need to weigh something so large that it makes it hard to see the readout using a bigger bowl or plate. Now I'll try Saran wrap too!

I have the same kind of food scale. I use a small plastic bowl on it and zero it out each time so it doesn't weigh the bowl. I can then just rinse the bowl after weighing things.
