This morning I measured everything for my breakfast and my lunch box and my snack box. I work 12 hrs today. But it is just sitting. I just put in to the food diary everything I have. Again it is more than I expected it to be. Had to take a few minutes to find all the foods. It doesn't look like much, but when you list it out it seems enormous! I don't want to restrict too many calories at once. I will aim for the 1675 that the nurse here at work says would fit me. NOT going to make it today but will modify the food and quantities slowly. I am aiming for next Tuesday to log 1675 or less. Thanks for the heads up about 2100 probably being too much. I really suck at doing all the math so I made a detour this morning and when to the company nurse - she was quick at taking measurements and calculating a doable number.

It helps me a lot that I have a good food scale at home to weigh all of my food. It also helps to have extra determination and willpower in the beginning, when your body will tell you that you are starving it to death, even when you aren't. Good luck!

thanks I needed to hear that because I got mired down in paperwork and didn't eat all of my lunch.... I am starving and I can't leave the "machine" to go warm it up and finish it....STARVING... or feel like it!

I figured as long as I stay over 1200 calories a day and under 1700 I'm doing good. :) On average I'm around 1400ish I think. I gave up counting the little bits of seasonings and such used a loooong time ago on my first weight loss adventure. lol. Also I taste stuff as I cook, so a pinch of meat, a teaspoon of mash potatoes. I know it adds up, but it'll be alright. Anywho just wanted to say your doing Great!! ^.^ Try adding more protein in, I keep a ready to drink shake in my purse, fiber one bars, nature own granola bars, and some kind of fresh fruit for snacks at the office. And usually have yogurt for breakfast once I get to work. Really seems to help the starving feeling while at the desk..and no need to nuke!! :D haha. Cheers and hope you get to warm your lunch up!

thanks my cube mate was able to tear away for a coffee refill brought me a slice of cheese pizza - know I shouldn't have but I inhaled the thing. I will reheat last of lunch probably for dinner when I am finished with second job. I admit to having a sunflower seed addiction.... but my bag of seeds is gone. I need to go to the grocery store this weekend... that is always an adventure fraught with danger... the cookies and ice cream sing such wonderfully sweet songs.... like the Sirens in Greek Mythology!

I remember not thinking twice about eating 3 or more slices of pizza so good for you just having the one : ) Keep up the great work!

This is the part where it kinda starts getting fun ;-) Look at your daily consumption and determine the things you can live without - or identify healthier substitutions that work for you a bit better. It's an ongoing process finding the foods that you like to eat, are healthy for you and satisfy you. Re the grocery shopping trip this weekend...maybe reframe it in your mind that you're going in search of really interesting fun healthy foods to add to your repetoire. You'll breeze right by the other stuff when you're thinking about veggies to fix a different way or ingredients to make an interesting dip for some veggie or chicken strip snacks
