looking for a good quality, reasonably priced protein supplement/shake to increase my protein intake. BBO... i know you did some research on this recently.

suggestions?

Protein shakes can contain a lot of scary ingredients also known as 'franken foods" my friend. Any way it's your choice and I'm sure you'll have some great suggestions coming your way but in m.h.o. our bodies work better on real protein and it can be simple things like eggs...chicken...tuna.....full cream yoghurt...

I haven't had a protein shake for the last 6 weeks and I only have them on a non-fast day if I go to the gym. That said, I chose the SSN Whey Performance Protein simply because its made from 100% Whey concentrate whereas other brands mix soy protein with whey protein to make the product cheaper in price. I mix with water and not milk. I get 20.5g protein for 116 calories from 1 serving. 100g of steamed/boiled chicken breast fillet is about 26g protein for 114 calories. Protein shakes come in various types so for my needs I chose a low carb one that was 5g per serving. If I wanted only to increase protein then I would opt for the chicken than a protein shake BUT if I have a gym session then I would have the protein shake because I want the BCAA's and quick absorption to help me repair muscles faster. From research, muscles can absorb protein best within a window period of 45 minutes after a workout.
