Journal de Ideal Weight, 10 mars 17

Tomorrow is my weigh-in day and so far I'm off to a rock start. I've eaten 2 1/2 donuts. UGH. I totally deserve the stomachache I have. Usually I try to eat light and push the water on Friday, since I normally weigh on Saturday, just for some extra help. Well, I guess if I gain, it serves me right for making crappy choices.

Also, I probably went over yesterday on calories, but I'm not sure. I met with a girlfriend for supper and had a grilled chicken sandwich with teriyaki, pineapple, cheese and Canadian bacon. It's called the Aloha Burger and it's majorly delish. I couldn't find anything similar in the database, but also I have no idea what the individual portion sizes were. Was is 4 oz. of chicken or 6 oz.? Was it 1 oz. of sliced cheese or 2 oz.?

I hate that. :( Boy, I must be crabby or something....

Happy Friday FS peeps!!

Hey there! Not sure if you tried this already or not, but if the restaurant you visited has a website you could check the nutrition facts for the sandwich you ate. Most places list everything on their menu on their website. Though I have been trying to avoid eating out, there have been a few times when I couldn't find what I ate on here to log it. Also, if that doesn't work, you might also want to check Calorieking.com or check the food database on Fitbit.com. Both have helped me find the info I needed. Hope this helps :)

Hi Idealweight, the other way I log food if I can't find what I'm looking for in the database? Deconstruct what you are eating! It's also a way to save some calories. Eat it open faced, with only half the bun, order it w/0 the bun on lettuce (most restaurants will do this since Adkins) and/or get the sauce on the side and use it sparingly for dipping. That said: to estimate your portions (diabetics get good at this! LOL) a playing card pack sized piece of meat is 3 oz. so go up or down from there. Get a set of measuring spoons and cups at a store or a dollar store and put various foods in them and then plate them and see what they look like to your eye. A baseball is about 1/2 cup. A golf ball about 1/4. Look up the buns and items and sauces individually in the database and it will give you a pretty good idea of what you ate🤣 you can check converters on line to see how many teaspoons or tablespoons are in cups, etc. I hope this helps! When I have a bad few days I normally notice my body tries to even it out over the next few so I eat less then if I pay attention and don't get down on myself for slipping! So stay on track!

IW, if you want to go keto stay away from japanese american food. Lots of added sugar. Also, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries are great for a sweet tooth and won't add the carbs of other fruits. Hope you find the food combination that will make this easier for you! I am rooting for ya!

Thanks Faux! It's a local place, not a chain, so they have a menu online, but it doesn't have nutrition information or anything like that. I did my best to estimate. If I don't lose this week, I'm not going to be too bent out of shape about it. It's a small blip in what will be a long journey for me. Ed- I'm not doing Ketosis. I just count calories and try to stay under less than my BMR. SMProwett- Thanks for the tip on estimating portions!!! :) You guys are such a great community.

Ed, add blueberries to your list. They are huge antioxidant little morons with very few calories and high fiber. I crush those suckers up in s blender ( cuz I hate them raw) and they are so sweet ( make everything niiiice and purple...LOL And Also that's why when I order any of that type of food I try to get the sauce on the side. When it's americanized we kill it with sugar. Plus pineapple is one of the highest glycemic index fruits you can eat. Good for you, but the sugar hits your body, hard and fast.

smprowett, i read that blueberries are a little too high up on the carb scale for keto diets. Am I wrong? I am going to check again because I would love to add them. My father sent some oranges up from Florida on Friday and I just had to have some. They taste so fresh! I know they are up there on carbs but also have a lot of fiber. Everytime I eat too many carbs, I go out of keto and then pay for it.
