I've got Hurley's diet/exercise schedule!

It seems relatively easy to stick to. Each morning and evening meal is a half-cup of Pedigree Healthy Weight mixed with a half-cup of frozen-or-fresh vegetables of his preference (still have to test that to see which he likes) accompanied by a walk (but not within 2h before or after his meal). For lunch he's permitted either an apple (without seeds and stem, of course) or a large carrot.

The boyfriend's going to get a little annoyed at the extra expense, but I'm hoping to score a part-time job soon, so I should EASILY be able to afford the extra food.

Oh! Also! This morning, Hurley ate dog food without scraps mixed in! I'm so pleased. I've been terrified that he was going to starve himself.

Anyway. The walking challenge should be a piece of cake now, since I'm going to be walking twice a day now. I've been doing extremely well drinking only water, too. I've only had one slip, but it was for cream soda! I hadn't had a can in years, and I used to love it so. I still do, I suppose. I was overcome with nostalgia and an unexpectedly surprising sugar-rush!

I'm a little concerned about the fact that most often I'm well under my RDI. I'm going to try to make it a personal goal to get as close to exactly how much I'm meant to have as possible from now on.

I filled in my the food and exercise I got yesterday, but I accidentally put it into the slot for today's entry. x.x

I'm just going to try to remember to put today's foods into yesterday's and it'll be okay, right?

My dog's come home (he's been staying with my mother for the last year while I've been finding a place that allows pets) and he's in need of some dieting, too. My mother's husband has been feeding him people food so much and so often that not only is he alarmingly overweight (I've seen a lot of overweight labs develop fatty tumors and die), but he's so spoiled on it that he refuses to eat dog food. =/

We have an appointment with a vet for suggestions on how to wean him off of people food safely. In the meantime, I've been having to mix a little bit of scraps with his dog food to even get him to sniff it, and walking with Hurley is extra exercise.

Even better, having to keep tabs on where he's walking and stopping and the like keeps me more aware of my own steps, which makes me less likely to stumble!

I love my dog. I'm so upset with my mother and her husband for letting his weight get out of hand. Still... Should I feel guilty for being grateful that I have someone to go through this weight-loss thing with me?

Going to have a small lunch and take Hurley for a walk before the rain comes. The weather's supposed to be atrocious the rest of the week, and Hurley doesn't have as many options for exercise as I do without tracking mud and wet-dog smell through the house.

Wish us both luck!
