Journal de CocaLola, 05 janv. 20

So, new year, new goals, dreams & aspirations.

I am so tired of letting myself down year, after year, after year.
Just growing in size year, after year, after year. I have really had enough now.
I am turning 47 this year and would absolutely love to look amazing on my 50th birthday. That is 3 years off and the reason I am saying that,
>> SMALL VICTORIES WILL AMOUNT TO LARGE SUCCESS! <<

How did I get like this? SUGAR! SUGAR! SUGAR! I honestly dont eat a lot, but I drink a lot of soda! On a good day it could be between 2 to 4 liters!!!!! THAT IS HOW I GOT THIS FAT! Then in my mid 40s I developed a sweet tooth, eating a chocolate a day AT LEAST! Mostly drinking my calories. My cholesterol is through the roof at 11.9, which caused me to be on cholesterol medication, which has all these nasty side effects. :(

What really irritates me about myself is that I am a very successful business owner and making success of a business to me is second nature, but I cannot for the life of me lose this weight. I can do the impossible, but I struggle with the possible.

Today was my 3rd day without ANY sodas, but I did have 2-3 cups of coffee, 1 sugar per cup, each day, just to help me through the worst. I am not a big coffee drinker, but the coffee has definitely curbed my cravings and kept me full.

I have also cut my complex carbs, but still had some simple carbs like some fruit, vegetable and milk in my coffee.

For me, JUST TO GET RID OF THE SUGAR IN MY DIET IS A HUGE WIN! THAT is my main goal for January, TO STOP DRINKING MY CALORIES and drinking myself FAT!

I have added some resistance training to my days too and try to be more active around the house with chores etc.

Tomorrow is back to work. WISH ME LUCK!

Good luck❣️ I wish you all the success in your health journey💖 if it’s healthy, eat it. One teaspoon of sugar in your coffee is a big change from soda so I think you are making the necessary steps to change. Baby steps. Take it one day at a time.

Thank you so much! That is absolutely the key, hey. BABY STEPS! Small steps turn into an entire journey xxx

Good luck. I'm definitely with you on this one...but I'm turning 50 in exactly a year so I'll have to put my money where my mouth is! PS try plain sparkling water instead of soda....I add look lemon to it and don't even miss the other nasty stuff

Honestly, this 50-thingy has got me somewhat depressed.

Good luck! Why not try drinking something else instead - coffee (without sugar), tea (without sugar), green tea they say is excellent for weight loss, rooibos tea is nice. And there are other drinks. Water? Give it a go!

Cutting out sugar completely is a sure way to set myself up for failure. I have had a coca cola addiction since I was a young child. You can say its so ingrained in my DNA. Having 4 cups of coffee a day = 4 sugars. 2l coke a day = 54 spoons of sugar. Even adding milk to my coffee will not lead to 54 spoons of sugar. Was a fair trade that I can actually accomplish for now. xx

Okay. But maybe don't cut it out completely. Why not try cutting it back a bit. You seem to be good at keeping a record so you could keep track of it. Reduce it a little bit and see how it goes.

I am not really a coffee drinker at all. Drinking coffee is foreign to me. I have about 4 cups spread over the day and I only have coffee when I feel hungry it does help me to not overeat. And like I said, having 4 spoons of sugar to 54+ spoons of sugar to me is a HUGE VICTORY every day. I think the caffeine is also helping me to get through the day without the endless amount of sugar I used to fuel myself with. Also going from drinking no water ever, to drinking at least 2l. Feel pretty damn depressed today. :( Days like today that I would normally just say "Screw this, I am having a chocolate." Then I get so mad at myself for letting myself get this fat.

Baby steps. One day you might cut out sugar completely like me. I also use to be addicted to soda from a very young age. I was over weight since the age of 6 years old. After high school I decided to do something about my weight. My whole family went on a diet with me and I lost 30kgs in a space of 7 months. It took long. But I did it the healthy way. Eating clean and stayed away from dairy and sugar and refined carbs. I would still have fruit. So got sugar from that but it’s all natural. No body got fat eating an apple a day😉 after falling pregnant 6 times. The weight just kept pilling on. And went back to old eating habits. No more babies for me now. I’m currently 38 days free from sugar and refined carbs. I have carrot cake, soda in the fridge and cheese rolls at home and have not touched any. My will power is so strong now. I am not tempted to eat any junk. Eventually you will build up the will power. It’s not easy in the beginning. Nothing worth fighting for comes easy. But with time. It becomes your new normal. When you feel depressed or sad. Just cry it out. Scream if you have to, or go for a brisk walk or do HITT sprints. Way better than eating crap and feeling worse.

Hi CocaLola, cute name and probably appropriate based on your story. I was amazed to see myself in your selfie photos, minus the boobs. I have tried many, many approaches and 18months back resorted to 36 & 42hr fasts which were tough. Problem was, whatever I took off during the week crept back on over the weekends. I have a ton of audiobooks regarding differing approaches, one thing I have realised is that we are all different, just like we all have different shoes sizes. The one size fits all approach didn't work for me. So far I have had decent results especially from the Dr Michael Mosley BBC's 5:2 approach. I have even modified this and record all my results so I can see outcomes and reach new deductions about my current progress. Call me weak, but I have many crashes and subsequent binges. The only advice is to hang in and keep trying until you find what works for you. Then don't think because it works for you it'll work for other in your family. I started in 2012 around July, I weighed in at 127kg, after Christmas 2019 I am into the 96's, my goal is 75 and lower for my height and bone structure. I will probably change strategy another 100 times again before I achieve my goal. I have stopped taking my Glucophaze tablets for type 2 diabetes, my blood sugar is fairly stable now, 2hr postprandial readings are around 4.7. I have also halved my blood pressure meds. I'm not looking for anyone's approval this is not my aim, purely an example of what I would do to try and recover a healthy lifestyle. You don't want to be in poor health in your 60-90's. Good-luck CocaLola...

My advice to you would be to see a professional like a doctor with regards to a diet/nutrition plan. Also consider joining a gym with a support group. And also know that there is no finish line. You have to change your lifestyle and find food that you can eat for the rest of your life, healthy whole food. Otherwise you will have a seesaw effect and loose the battle. Be patient and set a long term goal.

I find the gym THE MOST BORING place on earth. I have joined. Been there done that. Not a gym girl. I have a diet plan for my high cholesterol and have been told by my dr to CUT THE SUGAR immediately. I see my GP every 6 months because of chronic medication. Right now what I need is the healing of my soul first and foremost. Thanx to everybody's comments. LOVE IT! I feel supported. xxxxx

Just count your calories. And go ride a bicycle. You will look fabulous at 48. True story. Improving your health is first priority.
