I've found that working out makes you lose inches, not weight. You often gain weight, because muscle weighs more than fat. For instance, I know I'm losing some weight, but when I weigh myself, I'm still about 194 lbs.

When you first start exercising or change your exercise, your muscles retain water (they get little tears and water replaces to help them heal). It can show on the scale as a gain or no loss. It is temporary. As you continue to work out, your will gain muscle mass, but it takes time. Muscle is more dense than fat and take up less room, so as you lose the fat, you get leaner but don't always see the scale move. The scale will eventually follow. Just keep going.

I really liked what you wrote. It's been a year since I checked this post...but what you had to say is still very relevant to my weight loss today.
