It's just 1/2 a pound but I'll take it! I mean give it! I wish I knew the exact ratio that works for my body; and it would be nice if that stayed the same, but we are not robots. I wish there were something I could eat to lose weight, like I did to gain the weight in the first place. I wish I didn't feel like all my energy was blocked and I was stuck, at this weight, at this place, at this spot at this moment. . . . I wish I could move on or move back to before or forget or undo or delete . . . .

If it were that easy everyone would be thin. However there wouldn't be that gratifying feeling when you do lose the weight! Keep up the hard work it pays off.

How long have you been stuck at this weight?

about a week? any ideas how to bust it? my nutritionist asked me if historically I was ever at this weight, like when I was pregnant . . . . do our bodies have memories?

In a way it does. When you are a certain weight for a while you body established a base weight, and when you start to lose weight your body may think something is wrong. So chemicals in the brain are releases to make you hungry so the body wont starve. What you are experiencing is a plateau. You may need to change your workout routine. For example increase the intensity or try something different. You may also need to eat more. I once got stuck for 3 weeks and I increased my dally calories by 500 and started to lose weight again.

Thank you for stopping by my journal and your kind comment. Here's my unsolicited two cents worth. At the beginning of changing the way I eat, for the better, I lose a lot of weight really fast; most people do. That's why you always see these 'lose 10lbs in 3 days' type things. Then the body adjusts and finds a 'set point' and the weight loss will continue or the weight may just 'maintain' as the intake and output are balanced. The deficit creating the loss will be less because the weight is less. I know what you mean about 'well, I know cookies, pizza and ice cream equals gain... I wish I knew exactly what equals loss.' Like a magic pill - and we all want it. And we all fall in love with the scale at first because it rewards us day after day (in the beginning) with these very noticeable drops but then the love affair ends when the drops slow. So think about this - if you can lose 2lbs a month ((I know, the Horror right)) but 2lbs a month and KEEP it off for the rest of your life while you still eat food you enjoy that's good for your body - you'll be farther ahead than to lose it all really fast and gain it back just as quickly. Okay I'll hush now.

Yes, don't lose sight of how far you have already come, my new friend! Your body is adjusting and as Bella so wisely wrote, taking weight off mindfully & focusing on a healthy way of living will last you a lifetime. I'm trying too, to forget the quick fix & go for healthy, mindful living. xoxox

I would suggest stop focusing on the moment and look at your overall trend - your weight history. It is a nice downward chain. So you are doing pretty well. I know you are not on Atkins as I am, but changing things up as Jose said most often will get things moving again. For me I increase my fat and lower carbs, for you maybe just eat more or increase your workout.

Dear Bella, thanks for your words of wisdom; what you describe is so accurate! Those first two weeks I would wake up early in the morning and every day the scale showed a significant drop. Oh god, 2 pounds a month I won't even see on the scale! But I know what you're saying is true! And thank you dear Ruhu, I am striving for the healthy way that I can stick to . . . . .

Thanks MJ, I read up on Atkins and took into consideration that I really did not have enough fats in my diet after talking to you .... that was when I was stuck at 192 for 2 weeks and the fat increase broke the lull! Thanks!

mom2 it was a crazy discovery for me that veggies have carbs! I mean i figured about potatoes and the obvious ones, but lettuce and celery having carbs? that floored me. i've never "dieted" before. . . . . I was reasonable built and fit growing up and until I got married and started having kids and relationship issues and life issues, it wasn't until then that I started gaining weight. . . .

Non-starchy veggies are the good carbs. I think you are doing quite well ... it's all about educating yourself and learning how the body works. It's all good!
