This holiday weekend got the best of me. I enjoyed being with my family and friends and did what they were doing - EATING... I did swim in the lake most of Saturday though. I still gained about a pound back this weekend. I'm starting to feel discouraged. I don't know why it's so hard for me lose weight and keep it off... I think maybe its a problem with my thyroid or something. Until I get that checked out, I'm going to keep up my diet and exercise. This is my last week off before I go back to classes - 5 classes! - and I want to give myself a boost for summer quarter! I can do this! I just know I can!

Don't be discouraged. I was just looking at our food diary and it looks like you are not getting enough calories. You could be "starving" your metabolism in which case your body is not burning fat but storing every last bit of it. A good guideline is to burn 1,000 more calories a day than you eat. This will get you to -2lbs a week. Do you have a heart rate monitor? That's the best way to track the number of calories you are burning when exercising. I've found that the calories tied to exercises on this website are really high giving you a false estimate regarding how many calories you are burning each day. Let me know if you want any suggestions on monitors. I got mine for under $50. Keep your chin up. It will happen, you just need to find the right mix of calories a day.

More fiber - salads w/ tomatos & rice vinigar dressing or lots of carrots in between meals, fiber breakfast (suggest Special K regular with watered down milk). Fiber meals get the metabolism going to digest the fat. Def check tyroid and blood panel.
