Yesterday was a wash for me. Stayed in bed all day and read a book cover to cover, one of my most reliable ways to hit "reset" on my brain when it starts malfunctioning. The only issue was that I started reading around 3pm, and finished around 2am, and didn't get up at all in that time to eat. I was feeling seriously sick by the time I was done, having a major blood sugar crash. I MUST remember to eat, even if the low-carb thing leaves me without hunger pangs. Small meals of 150-300 calories 4-6 times a day, without fail is the way to keep me happy and healthy.

Suggestion: Get an inexpensive watch with an alarm and set it so it will remind you to eat. We definitely don't want your sugar to crash. This will remind you to eat. Maybe even carry fruit or cube of cheese with you in case you get caught on the road, it will hold you until you get to someplace to grab a meal. Feel Better.

The issue wasn't that I was far from food, it was in the next room. It's that my book was so engrossing I basically didn't move for 11 hours! Normally I'd put it down between chapters every few hours for a stretch, bathroom break and snack. It also didn't help that I was crying most of the way through the second half, very moving material. Dehydration probably added it's joys to the sugar crash.

It was the Fault In Our Stars wasn't it? I wish I could forget to eat. My stomach doesn't let me do that.

The biggest benefit (for me) of Atkins (or other Low Carb type diets) is that getting into ketosis eliminates being hungry in the same ways. When I'm not in ketosis, I'm more of a slave to the whims of my tummy. When I am, it's easier to make rational food choices. That makes restricting calories much more manageable, but it means I need to be more conscious of my eating, as I won't get the same biological reminders.

And which book it was will say more about me than I'm comfortable sharing on an open forum like this, so the title will remain vague. It wasn't Fault In Our Stars (although I also cried my way through that), it was Science Fiction, and I shan't say more.
