I know I don’t post much, but I am being motivated by a good friend and mentor to try and be present. I am very happy with what’s happening to my body and mind. The truth is when I started this journey I was at 248 pound. The biggest I’ve been in my life. I had never been so disappointed in myself. When I started this app I was at 239, but I was losing the weight all wrong. Not eating, or eating the bare minimum to get by. But with the help of my friend and this app, I’m more conscious about what I eat and how much of it. I’m not starving myself. I feel fuller both physically and mentally, especially after reading everyone’s stories. So thank you to everyone out there using this app for being present. You help more than you think.

It took one year for me to lose 50 pounds. Losing weight takes patience. You need to be in a calorie deficit, but like you said, not STARVING yourself. In the year that it took me to lose the weight, many nutritionists recommended never going below 1500 calories per day. I’m in maintenance now and this app says now I’m at 2200 to maintain. Most days I reach 1800 or more and I feel plenty satisfied. I do still measure/weigh my food because for me, it works. Maybe in the future, I won’t continue that. When I was losing weight and my calories were lower, if I felt hungry, I drank a large glass of water (or 2) to hold me over. Sometimes hunger pangs mean you are simply dehydrated a little. I think the most beneficial thing I’ve learned is that I don’t NEED to snack!! I make sure to leave 3-4 (mostly 4) hour windows in between meals, then eat whole foods with at least 4-6 oz (6 oz if really hungry) of protein and I include healthy fats and THAT helped me to stay fuller for longer. Another beneficial thing for me is strength training and taking walks. Glad you shared! I really enjoy this community. ♥️
