recording after i drank water, unfortunately and was awake for an hr. nearly forgot. Have been sick, again. idk whats going on. I take vitamin D, among others...it feels like every other week, I'm down with something and it interrupts my routine i begin to get into. Im really unhappy about work( head start teacher, ages 3-5yr old)... its super stressful, im used to warehouse/forklift driver work. Cardboard boxes and pallets dont fight and talk back, so to speak. The only perk is i can see my son learn and grow, and be there when he needs me. However, when we come home, im super drained, stressed and de-motivated. Got Loop Quiet noise cancelling earplugs, i will use them tomorrow and hope they help with all the noise at work and see if im less stressed post- shift...
58 total days until school is done for summer... yes, i am counting...

I don't think many of us could handle your job.

I can relate somewhat: Much easier to work with machines than people because machines dont talk back 😁 Good luck & noble effort !

Morticia - yeah! I have an AuHD son (autism with adhd) and my dad said this job is definitely "character development" with what i cope with at home. He works in a hospital.

My mom taught Head Start for 3 years. She went completely gray after the first year. Would encourage you to return to warehouse peacefulness once your youngest son enters 1st grade. 💚

I’m a teacher. While it can be rewarding, it’s THE MOST draining career. Hang in there. The perk about your son is worth it.

hachooo- omg that is amazing!! I thought about becoming a play therapist, especially with my background in childhood trauma. Ive brought alot to the table in regards of identification in what some kids are experiencing and able to relate to the kids who have trauma. There isnt enough of them in our district. Thanks for all you do for the kids!! My mom is a special ed teacher for special needs at our high school in town. Been doing it for 20+ years overall. she never has regretted it.

JustBananas- thats crazy! And terrifying! Oh yes its like trying to control a room full of alligators... I definitely want to TRY to stick it out for 1 more year, then our youngest will be in kindergarten.

I was lucky enough to work in a private school, where it was a 3 strikes you're out policy. We had a waiting list of a year and a half before COVID hit. Im sorry you are stressed, it's rewarding to teach young children but the flip side of that is what it does to you. You are probably getting sick so much because you are around young children so much. My kindergartners used to give me all their germs! It comes with the territory..I used to get sick at least once a month and when I retired it all stopped. Hopefully your body will eventually adjust.💜💜💜

hang in there, working with little ones that young is not good for everyone. definitely if it's draining you like that it's not giving your son the best. look for a job that gives you a little time to recharge. Just my advice after 12 years in toddler care. I wish I had done something different and had more to offer my daughter.
