Things are not going to plan.
I am struggling to manage my daily calories.
It is disheartening to see I am back to where I was February. What a setback.
Need to pull my head in and get back on track.
I’m putting some hard rules in place.
1) no alcohol- not now - not ever.
2) salads or soups for dinner apart from evening out but not exceed calorie limit of 1800 RDI
3) 8 to 10k steps every day, including night shift.
4) increase water intake up to 2L per day including night shift.
I am taking on the realisation that I haven’t leant anything over the last 6 months and I need to make a new start from the beginning. The leaning must be self sustaining long term and be trained into daily habits.
I am 62yo and wish to retire one day and enjoy life after work.
So here we go again………..

I know this first hand that this can be sooooo discouraging. Remember to be gentle and forgiving with yourself, it makes a world of a difference. I've recently stopped drinking alcohol and usually just get sparkling water with lime when I'm out, my body loves it!

I think this is just part of how we learn. For whatever reason I have done the same and so have most of us. Thanks for reminding me to be vigilant.

I felt the exact same way. I woke up this morning thinking to myself 'where has all these months gone?'. I havent lost a single kilo and I felt like a total failure. Everyday we try again. I'm trying again today even though the last 7 months have not been successful. Don't give up on yourself.

Thank you for your words of support and especially reminding me that I’m not out there alone. We all need words of encouragement to give reassurance and positive drive to the right track. Let’s achieve goals together.

Intermittent fasting and lowering simple carbs worked really well for my partner and myself. Good luck.

@DinghyDave I hear you and as others said you are not alone. I had such a good run until Jun and then one missed drop in my weightloss was a trigger for my self sabotage behaviour. I am actually a bit scared to even try to weigh in as I am worried I may have blown out my weight. But, slowly I am regrouping myself and believing that if I had done once I could do it again with more confidence. However, I want to do it by giving more freedom to myself in this journey. In hindsight I feel I may have pushed myself too hard that I went on to punish myself afterwards. Unknowingly we put too much pressure on ourselves in the journey by looking at all different numbers. I guess these are the lessons to be learnt. Hope you also take the lessons from your past and start afresh. good luck.

It's a great idea to set your rules in writing. Perhaps cut yourself a little bit of slack in terms of the exercise? I find being tired makes everything difficult so perhaps a rest day per week?

have you looked at incorporating Protein Shakes? they could be a way to keep your nutrition, while helping to reduce your caloric intake? we all go off the rails from time-to-time, sometimes unintentionally and sometimes intentionally... try not to forbid yourself from anything, but have in moderation... if you were a regular drinker of alcohol, start to reduce the volume instead of going cold-turkey, that way your system won't have such a shock from not having anything at all... the 1st step was recognising what had happened, and start again... also if you've been using the diary, looking back over days / weeks / months you had success are a great guide on what you can do again... remember YOU GOT THIS!!!

I love you guys. We are sooo strong together. The lift I have experienced just by reading your collective comments has pulled me out of my sorry state and has kick started a new journey. This time I’m doing it for you, the FS family.

I’m in the same boat too brother. Last year I was doing so great, got down to 65kg at one point, but life happens, stresses, setbacks, and I gained right back up to 76kg. It’s shocking and disheartening. But this forum and everyone in it, supporting and encouraging gives me the hope and strength to keep trying. I’ve taken your words and your rules you wrote and saved them to remind myself too, to keep going. Thanks for your brave sharing it helps a lot of us to hear it ☺️

we all fall backwards in our lives at something or everything but being strong even if it's slow will get your goal.
